Some of my single friends and I have talked about building a Golden Girls House.  We will need 5 master bedrooms. 

A home with two master suites in my market is highly prized and hard to find.

It depends. Really it does. Some say it is no longer important.  Others insist on one.  Others prefer two. Still others want e be a suite. Gotta love real estate and the choices!

Two master bedrooms with one on the main level would be hugely desirable in the Maryland market.

Two master bedrooms are a popular request here. They can still be hard to find but are becoming more common.  

Always nice to have an extra bedroom with a private bath, maybe more!

Dual Masters are often requested because we have lots of blended and multi-generational families.

one on the first floor for an in-law suite....and one on the second floor for the owners...

2 are good, 2 familyrooms are also given by one builder. 

I like the whole 'on suite' kind of thing.

No, I do not see home buyers here in our niche asking for more than one master Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573, though many like split bedroom floorplans.  If there were two masters (in a split plan), then a third smaller bedroom would be ideal - especially if one had a live-in care worker.  Age-restricted communities can have different challenges.  If you had either a large family (kiddos) or lived in a multi-generational household (inlaws), more bedrooms would be a plus!

Andrew, a client of mine put an offer on a house recently that had four bed/bath combs. The only way you could tell where the master was - was because it was three times bigger than the others. I would have loved to have grown up with a bath with my bedroom, but it is not the norm here. 

Bedroom suites have been very popular for a long time. Now, people are often asking for a second master - a place for elderly parents or others to live.

One is enough for most. Two is better for some.

I do not get request for two master bedrooms in my area. 

One master is almost always enough - but, with more and more buyers having multi-generational needs in one single family home, dual masters have become a hot commodity here in Charlotte.

The more the better. Now days everyone wants a walk in closet and a large bathroom.

Some of this over indulgence gets a bit much, I prefer a more simple life and my excess goes to help other people.

You can never have enough. 

Generally one, however, two is better than one. 

A second master, with one on the main floor is a bonus.  Many immigrants from around the world locating here with family that comes to stay for extended periods. Having a great bedroom without stair access is very attractive to many buyers. 

This is interesting as I was just wondering if it would increase the value of our house enough to add a master to the ground floor. Sounds like it might! I don't think 2 master bedrooms are all that common around here yet though. 

With elderly family moving in with their children, two master bedrooms would be great to be able to find more of them in my area. They are not the easiest thing to come across around here.

Most homes have just 1 however i am seeing new homes built with 2 to accommodate the many 2 generations living in the same home

Living in Florida, we see the need for 2 master bedrooms more and more,
Whether it is bringing parents back into the home, guest suite, or even when couples switch to seperate bedrooms.
For the 2 story homes , we need at least one master downstairs.

The term "master" bedroom here usually refers to the largest bedroom,  have walk-in closets and en-suite bath...  We don't get requests for that sort of thing here... but sometimes another bedroom with it's own en-suite is a bonus... but that room is usually a standard size and not as large as a master suite.

Too many bosses at work more at home also.  I want to move out of there.

I have a townhome coming on the market soon where each bedroom (2) is a master.  Makes it nice if you want to rent out a room or have family move in and not have to share a bathroom.

There is one home in my neighborhood that three bachelors built together - it has three identical masters.  Two master's is not uncommon here.  Ensuite is also very common and some of those look like masters.

Planning on only one in my next home just like my current one.

One up and one down. Ground floor masters are often sought after here for aging or wheelchair bound buyers, yet the views are often on the second floor.

I am hearing more and more requests for 2. I think people are not sleeping together like they used to.

I think two is good.

Typically I see two within the  main house and another in the guest house when applicable.

More is better as long as it doesn't go too far above the community ceiling in value.

One is sufficient but I don't think anybody would say no to two master suites in the house. Guest quarters or kids with their own bathroom everyone would love it. -K

I have seen a few with two master suites lately.

The demand for two Masters is increasing in demand as well as so called "Mother-in Law suite" for separate cooking and dining. Demand far exceeds supply.
