Pi represents the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. It’s an important part of the foundation of mathematics, most importantly geometry, where pi is key to equations calculating the area of a circle, A = πr2, and the volume of a cylinder, V = πr2h.

It's the way to defeat any super computer, just ask it to compute Pi to the last digit. It defeated several evil computers in Star Trek.
It is the circumference of a circle divided by it's radius, if memory serves, and the only known number that has no end.
In high school the math department always celebrated the day by bringing in pies for the students. When I was traveling for work back in 2007, I was on a 3 week stint at an extended stay hotel in Medford, Oregon. That hotel had a weekly get together for the guests where they brought in food and drinks and everyone mingled and it was a very pleasant experience that was one of the highlights of my week. One such get together happened to fall on March 14th, so I went and got a chocolate mousse pie from the local Marie Calendars and some icing and made a "happy pi day" pie with as many digits of Pi around the outside as I could fit. I'll have to hunt down a photo, couldn't find it but know I have it somewhere.

The number π is a mathematical constant, the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, commonly approximated as 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter "π" since the mid-18th century, though it is also sometimes spelled out as "pi"
Thank you Google.

Publix (supermarket) is giving away free slices of key lime pie today. To compute the circumference of that key lime pie, multiply the Radius times 2 times Pi. To get the area multiply the radius times Pi and square it.
