I've really been holding out on replacing my ipohone 6S+ I like the headphone jack and will be sad to give it up. That being siad, it's probably about time. I don't use a tablet, but I replace my macbook every 4-5 years.

As rarely as possible. I only get a new phone when the one I have starts malfunctioning. That usually ends up being every 2 -3 years. I'm shopping now because the SD port in my current phone (S7) stopped working. Ugh. Should I go with the latest greatest Samsung S9, the S8, or S8 Plus? Decisions. Decisions.

When SPRINT say's 'COME AND GET IT!"my cell is replaced.
Samsung is looking much better than an iPhone today.
Due to planned obsolesce, it seems one must replace their technology every 7 years. Only the USA military uses Windown XP today.

Changed from T-Mobile to Verizon; had to get a new phone.
I get a new laptop when my existing one crashes and burns.

Only when I break my cell phone do I get a new one. I don't buy a new phone just because new technology comes out.

Michael J. Perry Not very often! My cell phone is an iPhone 6 Plus. I got it because it was given to me for free, if I renewed my contract for another two years. Unless I would get another free deal, the new features don't justify the cost of getting the new one.
When I purchased the iPhone 6 Plus I also bought an iPad 6. It still does what I need it to do, but Apple stopped supporting it with software updates at version 9. Apple stopped supporting the iPads with the 13-pin connector. Their way for making you upgrade. Again the new features aren't really an incentive to upgrade.
I always got the latest and greatest, but now realize it cost a lot of money just to say I had the latest and greatest.

New phone every 3 or so years. I've had the same laptop for 8 years. I basically only replace things when they won't work anymore.

I dont change much, when the laptop is out of space and out of juice I will upgrade.
Cell phones generally last even longer, mostly only change them when the company gets changed.

Every other year, Michael J. Perry - I just can't resist or control myself from getting into the new one!

Only when I absolutely have to! I hate having to buy a new phone - yes, they're a valuable (and necessary) tool for our business but, if it works just fine, why waste money on a new one?!
Tablets - rarely ever.

I replace my cell phone when the old one shows signs of failure. Chasing tech has never been my thing. I want utility and dependability.

The battery of my cell usually starts decreasing after 2 years, and usually replace it then. I have a tablet, but don't use it.

New cell phone when my son says it is time to update. New computer when the old one quits being a creature of habit.

Cell phone when it starts getting wonky. Probably around 3 to 4 years.
Tablet, still on my first one.

genraly speaking a phone lasts 2 to 2.5 years and my first iPad still works, but I have two additional ones. My first android tablet only lasted about 18 months.

When the old cell phone starts messing up or when the new ones are tempting with their superior features. Same with laptops. Don't have a current iPad; old one too slow and not supported much.

I don't do Tablets or haven't so far..smart phones I replace as infrequently as possible... I don't buy into the overpriced because its brand new model pitch. Michael J. Perry

I try to treplace my cell phone every 2 years...that's about how long it lasts. I don't have a tablet or a laptop anymore...still love my desktop or use my phone.

I don't want to buy my phone in 2years but I don't know what these companies are doing its goes slow any way. How much data I can delete, this phone is not for entertainment for business use. But I guess companies don't understand.

I probably upgrade every 4-5 years on the phone. I'm not a big tablet user, however I did buy a Kindle Fire on Black Friday because it was so cheap ($9.97) with all the discounts and promotions.

I still have my iPhone 6 and my iPadi Air that must be 4 years old. I change when I really need to, not when the new version arrives

Cell phone: once every 5-10 years. When my existing one can no longer be kept relevant by the manufacturer or third party OS updates.
Laptop: When it no longer keeps up with the software I use.
Tablet: I doubt I ever will since I seldom use them.

It takes me forever to break in a phone or computer, and I'm not one to salivate over shiny things. I'm practical and a creature of habit, & need convenience. Got my Note 3 in January of 2014, and when it finally started goofing on me I had to replace it with my Note 8 which I got in December of 17. That's typical. I'm usually good for about 3 to 4 years.

I don't replace either unless I need to.... if it works, and it satisfies what I need it for, why replace it??

I trade in my cell phone annually as I have a special plan with TMobile to do so at no extra charge. I purchased a tablet some six years ago and have virtually never used it. Not planning to replace any time soon.
