Perhaps I'm wrong to think this but, in our line of work, we are out there, front and center 24/7 and I'm as transparent as they come. So, I could care less who is watching me via the internet - we're out there for the world to see anyway! 

I break no laws so, I'm fairly certain they're quite bored watching me!

If they're going to try to sell me something because of my past searches, I'm a big girl - I know how to say, "No" and I know how to hit the delete button!

I just assume anything I do online is being watched by the government, Facebook Google and a couple gremlins 🧟‍♂️👽

I was on the other day & an ad for women's designer shoes came up... knew immediately my wife must've been using my device. So collect that data Facebook... I'll never fit into any of those pumps.

Interesting, Fred Griffin. Sorry if this is a stupid question - but what purpose does the Facebook Data File serve? Is it just damage control from Facebook (i.e. - a backlash about secret files and now an attempt at online transparency from them)? - Tim

Thanks for letting us know it's there.  Not going to take the time to download it as I really don't care what it says.  I decided a long time ago that  if they can remember my user name then they know  the who, what and when I am online.

Fred Griffin - When it comes to online activities, I think we should have some saying opposite to ----

“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas”!

I have not and FB isn't the only one. 

I hadn't, but just did so.

The file shows every friend I have on facebook, the date I added them, as well as every friend request I rejected, those still pending, those friends that were deleted and the date (deleted by them or me). It shows every ad that's been either sent or perhaps read (I dont' remember half of those so I bet it's sent). All "sessions" that have been setup with Facebook. All photos. All comments. It's crazy the amount of information that is in the file. I guess it might be worth keeping for the pictures, just in case someday Facebook access is eliminated for some reason. Otherwise, it just goes to prove that everything we do online is captured somewhere.

I guess I'll give it a go Fred & see what they have on me lol.

We are all sheep when it comes to technology.  Companies dangle some shiney things in front of us in order to use their product.  In return, they know every about us.  It's the way of life..... I guess, get use to it.

I have not, but I also have several plugins that disable tracking, cookies and the pixel.

Disconnect, Ghostery, Ad Block Plus and NoScript.  Probably a few more that don't reside on my taskbar.

Big data (daddy) does whatever it wants and it (they) know everything about it. So no not surprised at all by any of the big ones.....

I also think it listens to me. I talk about a product or place and then i see ads for that place or item. Creepy

As a whole we are naive to the ramifications of the ability of those who CONTROL access to information to control a society.

"I do nothing wrong so I'm safe," is the pinnacle of naive.

Have we learned NOTHING from what the Russians tried to teach us such a short time ago? It is all right there on Facebook and we should be aware...it not just FACEBOOK.

Clearly, no understanding of what can be done with this information is present.

What they are't showing you is how they, and others are listening in on your home life using the microphones on your tablets and phones.
