We have some top-producing agents here in Charlotte who have moved to eXp Realty and they absolutely love it! I've received several emails and phone calls, recruiting and sharing how much they love it. They are heavily recruiting, that's for sure!
Our own Brad Andersohn is a big part of eXp - he can give you some tips on the company.

Here in Florida they have no market presence and the agents are not high producers. My inquiry to them was not responded to.
My take is this is much like KW. Those on board love it, everyone else stays away from the Kool-Aid. As is common practice, real estate agents rarely speak badly of a past broker. Something about playing nice in the sandbox. So bad brokers keep on doing business.
My exploration suggests they are more visionary in explaining their structure, but those SAVINGS are not actually passed to the agent. The eXp platform lacks the accessories to create a true virtual buying and selling experience. These two missing pieces will be HUGE.
The other issue is the inherent loneliness and isolation of this business. Yes we do have a community here on Active Rain, just like the virtual office of eXp. However reality suggests human contact with those who understand our business is essential for proper mental and spiritual health.
The only two questions an agent should ask any broker before jumping ship or joining up would deliver 'unsuccessful' responses.
The facts are the facts. True defiance is plowing forward when the facts reveal disappointment lies ahead.
Perhaps an agent less the 40 yo would have a much differnt take.

I moved from RE/MAX (11 years - Hall of Fame Member) to eXp Realty in March of 2017. I was hoping what I saw was real. It was the first opportunity I saw that I thought to myself, "If I don't do this, in 20 years I might regret it".
My first few months were busy because the Spring Market in our area was so busy last year. When things started to slow down again in the fall, I still wasn't quite sure I made the right decision. I hadn't gotten involved really too much in the brokerage. I was just doing my thing selling real estate.
At that point, I really started to re-look at my decision and the company. After several months in, it started becoming very clear to me that I had made the right decision. The benefits of being a high producer in the system started to really show themselves (capping of E&O insurance, stock awards, etc). The company was continuing to grow and was adding really high producing agents around the country. I helped a friend of mine come to the company and that was beneficial for him and me.
Now through the winter and into spring, I continue to see the best coming out in this company. It continues to grow and change. Adding new services and benefits all the time. I am amazed at the technology that we have at our fingertips.
This is truly a company that adapts to the agents needs and not the other way around. It fits around the type of business YOU run regardless of if you are an individual agent, team leader or you run your own brokerage. I have seen all types of people come in and succeed. And the cloud office environment is like nothing I have ever seen. There is more participation there than any other office I have witnessed.
There are a lot of great brokerages out there, but eXp stacks up to any of them in my book. Like people have said, it's not for everyone (nothing is)... but it may be for you... I can't see how a high producing agent wouldn't at least want to explore the option of eXp.

EXP Agent here. I came on board a little more than a year ago after 13+ years at KW. I will say I loved KW and I wasn't looking to move at all, but when I saw the EXP Business Plan, it was a no brainer for me. I gave myself a $10,000 a year raise just with the lower CAP, my split is better, I have stock options and my REV(enue) Share is already 4 times more than my Profit Share was at KW after 13 years. I didn't think I was going to like being "in the cloud", but honestly the day to day business is the same and being cloud based saves me SO MUCH time in everything from getting quick answers from Accounting or Agent Services to Mastermind Training and Team Meetings. I couldn't be happier! It was a GREAT decision for me!

eXp Agent here. 20 years in the biz, originally REMAX, then went Independent and been almost a year at eXp. I also studied them heavily for 6 months prior to onboarding. I can honestly say I am more engaged and networked than I ever was at a brick and mortar. The collaboration, education and tech is beyond awesome. I joined primarily because I wanted to be my own boss and avoid the back office minutia. The culture and camaraderie was a total (unexpected) bonus. The earned stock awards and 20% discounted stock options are all gravy and getting banked for retirement. I would encourage any and all to check it out. I am very happy and having fun again.

The RE technology starts here in West Coast. Trulia, Redfin, Zillow, etc. I found in SF Bay Area has "ZERO" presence. CA state has a skeleton number of agents.
Future?

Hi All,
I have been with eXp Realty in Boston for about a year now. It's been great. I am in the business 17 years. I love the technology and love the culture. It's been great. I was concerened about joining an online brokerage in the beginning, but can honestly say I feel more connected than I ever have. It's been positive for me.
If you ever want to know more firsthand what's it like from a New England skeptic, give me a shout.

After 33 years with REMAX, 25 of those years as a broker/owner of 3 REMAX franchises, I can say that the best decision I have made is to affiliate with eXp Realty. We grew our REMAX agency from the original 9 to an average of 175 in the latter years of my franchises. I have personally trained over 450 top producing agents. I also achieved the "Hall of Fame" award and was twice the REMAX Broker/Owner of the Year in Georgia. There are several advantages in eXp that every broker/owner should consider. I am most impressed with over 30 hours of training including all inclusive master mind training available to me. I can engage anywhere at any time, all is needed is a wifi connection and I am picking up great ideas continually. There is a transparency and conversation that you cannot experience in your local office, state meetings or international conventions. Then at the same time over 200 trained personnel are at my call. In the past, an agent would go into an office to hopefully speak to the broker, at eXp, someone is always available. I also capped on my 80/20 split in my first 3 months allowing me to move to 100%. Now I am working on my goal as an "Icon" agent which will give me my cap amount back in stocks. Then the revenue shares... I have sponsored 5 agents and the income from that also pays for my cap on my 80/20 split. I could go on. I am just here to say... eXp works. By the way, congratulations to our founder Glen Sanford for receiving Inman's Most Innovative Broker award for 2018. Just let me know if you want to speak personally and yes, just like at REMAX, I am still recruiting!!

Luke Acree - I have answered this earlier.
A model that may be more futuristic than this decade perhaps.
This is the model perfect for people who want to create a wall around them through which you cannot communicate with other agents from the same office!
I was with eXp for a while and realized I need to see the human beings - other agents from eXp and other companies, too!
It did not take too long for me to find out a brick and mortar office.
Maybe, I am different!

Seen a few mentions of them in our area, when the market is good, strong and hot, lots of new brokerages open up, not all last. Generally if an agent is productive they are most likely happy where they are.

I have been considering it but I do think that it is confusing he focus of my real estate business - that of production vs. recruitment. It appears expensive, no guarantee of retirement..... If you team suffers attrition, your paycheck for REV is also in jeopardy. If I focus on building my own passive income streams and investments, then it is same difference. I do know that I'm a people person and value having face-to-face conversations with colleagues who sometimes provide me referrals, open house opportunities, and fellowship. We all have to decide what is the best environment for our growth and pursue it. Best wishes to all on your individual journeys.
