In what sense? I try not to think about it very much at all. But I also try never to forget that while we think it's there for us as agents, for the most part it's there to "protect the public from us."

I try to think of them as little as possible . . . LOL
They do the best job that they are able . . . our DRE seems to be fully staffed now, after YEARS AND YEARS of skeleton crew. I could be wrong, though!
Just like everything/everywhere, good help is hard to find, and the experienced and knowlegeable old timers who retire or die leave huge gaps in service. Technology has improved that somewhat.

A necessary evil.
Mainly because 'people' can't be trusted.

It's good. We are not funded by the state so we have more independence.

I don't. For the most part they just exist for me to pay them money and submit my continuing education hours... oh and make new laws that (surprisingly for California) actually make sense. I've not seen a whole lot of enforcement coming from them though. Honestly, except for every 4 years for CE and once or twice a year for new laws... I don't think of them at all.

I only think about them when it is time for me to file a complaint against an agent that behaves badly.

I can't say I really think about them except when I want to verify a licensee or renew my license.

This is a public question, and the members of the FREC can read the answers, correct?
I just want to say that the people at 400 West Robinson Street in Orlando are consummate professionals. They care deeply about protecting Florida consumers, and ensuring that real estate professionals adhere to the license laws of our state. The members of FREC set a shining example for the other divisions and agencies that come under the umbrella of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

They do their job effectively. Since we had a new state website implemented, it is really easy to load CEs and renew licenses.

They are under a new director and now staff is having to be accountable to timelines. A new licensee can get their license processed in a little as 2 days. During the snow when other state offices were closed, they worked remotely from home and didn't miss a beat. We finally have a good system in place.

I think our aim is to avoid doing anything that would get them to notice us. Their chief job is to protect the public...the consumer.

Think the commission in Florida is doing fine. In Illinois, not enough current experience to comment.
