All of the above, but I honestly think that for a brand new agent, selecting a broker who can really mold and shape them properly in all facets of this business is so critical. Those brokers are very hard to find. So they should take their time and find one who will hold their hand and teach them. This could also be a team leader/manager. Someone to ensure that you have all the information and guidance you need to succeed, from the get.
The difference between acquiring good and bad habits at the beginning will tail you through your entire career.

it's not so much what you know, it's who you know that will get you off the blocks initially...and if you play it right, it will continue for decades.... you need some street smarts to do this business....

I heard from a person who posted this, most replies bashed or picked on them for asking. I answered and they eventually found their broker they felt comfortable with and got started. They called me and thanked me and it made me feel good. Most do not know what they are looking for. I like to tell them to look not for just who pays the most, but what do they offer. What do they charge you? I like to see hands on training, leads and a broker that is available to the agent. Some companies are too big, some companies are too small. Some agents need hand holding, others are ready to fly, just cut the cord and let them go. I say there is no answer that fits all, if you talk to a new agent, you learn their wants, needs, desires, goals and then can match to what they seek. Some you can help, some you can not. Some you will teach, some will listen and some will not.

"A" is priority one and they should choose carefully. One size does not fit all. Define an area where you want to market yourself. Learn the inventory as you are practicing and listing presentation and doing price opinions. Once you have a basic understanding, let everyone you know and meet you are in the business.

It doesn't matter how much great info we leave here - the person that needs it won't ask here for another week & then won't find it.
I'm saving my valuable time ......

As a brand new agent, great points to follow and the points will never stop coming..GET OUT IN THE DEEP AND START SWIMMING AND FIGURE OUT AS YOU GO...
I would follow your order if I had to take this route...The way I stated earlier is not the best way but sometimes new agents are trying to get it right but my thing is do something and get it right as you go...They are waiting for that perfect opportunity...
A. Consult your broker/mentor/trainer and ask thousands of questions and set up meetings with them until they get tired and refer me to a trainer/coach
B. Tell the agent to hit up everyone they know announcing their new career and solicit an introduction to their family and friends.
C. Buy a book (A lot of info is on the internet as well. I would take a look at Mike Ferry/Tom Ferry, and others who have some info that's free)
D. Complete a personality/genius assessment to aid in the design of their business
E. Have the newbie identify a local agent whose business they want to emulate.
F. Squeeze to identify what this new agent fears the most

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 - I would not. I donate time to help people and friends and I volunteer to help animals. I have no interest in taking a newbie under my wings. It is just not how I want to spend my time. It is also why I do not have agents associated with my brokerage. I love flying solo.

Most important for me was training with an experienced agent…a mentor. He provided to roadmap for the rest of the stuff. And my first office manager was very supportive.
