Here's my 2 cents. Yes, IF you use them. Don't put social media icons on your site or blog if you don't use them... people are not stupid. But they also want to know if you ARE social. I usually tell agents to pick a couple they want to work and then WORK THEM. a few posts a week. Etc.. Don't just put the icons there for show.
As far as SEO goes, Twitter and Facebook usually make the most sense and some SEO stats make a point to say it's important, but I don't think they will affect your SEO tremendously, but it's another place where your information is located, links are created, presence shared.  There are really no cons to this unless you don't want people following you. I have a client that has not so savory people follow him on G+ and he's asked me to remove them, which I can't, it's like telling someone to unfollow Beyonce, but if you don't want someone knowing your business (like actual business) than don't post, and stay off social media. However, if you USE these accounts, GO FOR IT!

I will give a unique perspective. I don't see the pro, but here are the cons:

1. If you are not active on social media, DO NOT link to social media profiles. I see people do this all of the time and it will make people question if you are still in business.

2. If you send someone away from your website (after spending money to get them there), you could lose them to distractions from social media OR those who are retargeting your customers on social media (knowing that they may have been to other sites before yours).

The best thing you can do on a website is get them to call you. The second best thing is for them to give you there contact info so you can follow up with them.

No real pros or cons. It's kinda to show some social media presence. Not sure it's an effective marketing strategy but it's efficient as it does not cost anything. I don't rely on it or pay attention to it - but it's there.

I really never thought about it much. My presence on all this social media is pretty much for "street cred." All the large companies post their social media links on their sites. They must be doing it for a reason.

If you want the world to see you, then share the links. I think keep it business and leave personal links off.

I remember being told that I needed to add them and given the link to download the icons. I did it and never thought another thing about it.

I have found that some prospective clients want to see that you have presence on the web - especially sellers. We have a good following on our business FB account and many of our past clients follow us there. They see us more active there but, always have the link to our website.

Food for thought - you can upload 4 posts to FB each day in about 5 minutes. Writing a blog each day is FAR more time-consuming.

DO post to your site first - then share it on your social media - then share it here (especially if you're doing a copy/paste).

my business website feeds all post to my facebook business page..... I don't use the links on AR.... never have.... I post to my website first and then copy and paste to AR with the same title....then copy and paste to three other websites with different titles....

that's how I've been working for years and I have good exposure online for the keywords needed to make the phone ring for a Free Market Analysis in Franklin MA and Marlborough MA.... I may start adding more towns now....

Can't remember Fred. Yes there was a reason but I can't remember the purpose 10 years ago. I'm getting tired of how it looks & was thinking of wiping the whole thing off.

Good point about people jumping around on your sites. Maybe only one we should have is where they search for houses & stay  put there.

As we see it, adding them to our site give us first authorship!  On Active Rain it comes from Active Rain as opposed to Napa Consultants.

To be honest, I don't think it makes much of a difference.  Very few people are interested in sharing your posts or following you.

I think it's more important for you to share your content, and if it's good/relevant, others will share it and/or follow you.  How often do you go and share other people's content on here?

Also, if something is great, I would (and do) share it and even email it to people on my own if it's awesome.

On my own website, in December I had a problem w/ website and we disabled all the plugins...and you know what happened?  It sped up my site, for better user experience and had no impact on social shares.  In fact, I think I have more.

Tammy brings up some good points, esp only include the ones you are active in.

In terms of best for SEO, G+ and Pinterest are the best by far.

In terms of traffic, pinterest is the best by FAR.

In terms of lead generation, most find FB and LI most effective.

I have found twitter to be irrelevant for my business (and for real estate), but clearly it is good for others.

Hope that helps.

It is a way to get more engagement and the con is if the link breaks and you don't check often to see if it is working.

Pros: Drives traffic to the accounts

Cons: You need to keep those accounts alive

Personally: I've removed most of my social media links on my website and even shut down a few of the accounts (left them alive though for the backlinks).  I'm really getting less and less thrilled with social media as an agent and as a consumer.  At some point I may shut it down completely.  With the new facebook changes, there really isn't any point in posting anymore since natural reach has been decimated.
