I use an app on my phone ScannerPro. Cost $2.99 from app store. Best money I ever spent. Open the app, take a photo and it creates a pdf document. Then I can email or text directly from app. Love it!!

I have been happy with all of the cheap 3in1's at Walmart, HP, Canon, and others.

All work about the same and are very cheap, except for the expensive ink.

I'm sure you'll get some good answers, Olga... but not from me... I have a big honker of a Lexmark in my office and don't print portably. Had one years and years and years ago... and it never really worked well and was a pain to carry around.

I've got nothing.  My chimney guy uses a portable printer. Beyond that, I've got no experience with them.

I am so glad you asked this question Olga Simoncelli as I too would like to find a good small portable printer for myself. Preferably one that fits right in my laptop case.

Portable? Do you mean you want to transport it everywhere you go? I use a scanning app and don't need copies.

They are all made of plastic and most likely made in the very same factory.

Based on how PORTABLE your needs are, such as Ken's baggage and flight requirements. the greatest concern you must have, and have no way to get the answer, is how does the printer manage the ''waste" ink created from borderless printing and cleaning ink jets.  If waste ink ends up in a reservoir, inversion of the printer will be incredibly problematic. If waste inks ends in a sponge or other absorbent material. you are good to go.  Of course the same issue exists with eco-tank printers.

I would buy what ever Staples or Best Buy is promoting at the front door and get the warranty if you know this printer is headed into an inclement environment.
