It is a small water-repelling, cone shaped projection used in the architrave of Doric architecture.  Some think they are a representation of pegs used in earlier architecture.  Water rips over the edges away from the edge of the building.

that's an easy one..... gutta's and downspouts are the vessels for diverting water from the roof and away from the house.... (that's how those in MA pronounce the word gutter)....
