When I've got CRE clients scouting sites then they get a tour package and we tour or scout the sites. The scouting more likely happens if I'm doing it solo.
Residential property, we're out showing. I'm not sure it makes a difference.

Typically I show property not tour it.   Semantics are fun.

   Unless a bunch of Realtors get together to preview new listings, then it is called a Caravan or a Tour.

Tammy in the Lafayette, Indiana real estate market most agents do refer to viewing homes with a client as a "showing".

I have to be careful as I have gotten in the bad habit of calling the viewing and visitation of the departed  in funeral homes as "showings" instead of visitations or viewings the day before the funeral.    ^_~

Showing homes or showing property is what I say. I'm in Boise, Idaho. Tour is used for a broker tour (a meeting where agents/brokers travel together to look at a number of company listings at once) or people "tour" the Parade of Homes (a specific event featuring a number of builders and their best homes built in different subdivisions to show off during the event). But generally, every day showings are showings. -Kasey

Showing is the term here in IL. In fact, our version of 'tour' means no buyer is coming with.

In Minot ND it's about 50/50 Tammy Lankford, between Tour and Show.

I've not heard of any terminology other than "showing" property.... tour is a breeze through as in a Broker tour....

Showing buyers or showing homes in Oklahoma City. Rarely do I hear someone use property.

Showing property when just looking at houses. With relocations they are buyer tours since are scopping out a much broader picture. Agents usually call to "show" a home

I use buyer tours when they are relocating to the area - we are touring the city AND properties. 

I show properties when that's all I'm doing - showing and not touring the city...and you know where I live! 

I show property, I show houses, I tour homes... I use them all. Normally, when I think of "touring" I think of broker tours (which we don't really have here anymore). However, when I put a package together for buyers of homes we are seeing, I do label it as a home viewing tour.

Whether it is rent or for sale it starts out: "Hello I am calling about the property you have advertised" some draw it out with pauses, addresses and the like but I may gently interrupt or patiently wait & help them through it. 

Kenosha, Wisconsin -- we SHOW properties!  If I use the word "tour" it's because I am personally looking at the property without my buyer.  That's a tour.  At least here ...

Realtor tours-twice a week. Association dependent. CA Silicon Valley.

Some will even go to a breakfast social meeting announcing the tours, you mingle with other agents wheel and deal..... You can go to a lunch meeting having pizza in another municipality.  Recently, I got an eInvitation to have burritos and tacos, I happened to be in that neighborhood at lunch, it was a Latino realtors association at Cesar Chavez Plaza. ¿Tiene una casa para vender?  What?  burrito y tacos sabe bien!

I usually refer to it as a 'showing appointment' 

We call it showing homes too, when I hear tour - it is for broker tours.

Showing is what most  use in our market.

Showing: Showing the property to buyers.

Tour: Broker tour, no buyers.

Some agents may want to sound fancier by using tour with clients.  Personally, I'll ask them if they're just taking a tour (looking only) or if their clients are ready to sell before granting permission.

'Showing is the overwhelmingly used term.' Driven, perhaps by the dominance of vendors using the same term such as Showtime.

However, some are updating their terminology using 'owner suite' and 'tour' when appropriate. However white sand beaches and gleaming white kitchen cabinets is forbidden my the local association. So we are tempted to use ivory.

It's a "showing" or "viewing". We reserve "tour" for when other agents tour the new listings as a group.

I am the same here Tammy... I am "showing properties".. not touring them.  I live in Mississauga, Ontario.

I call it showing if I have clients ... if not I am touring it (aka previewing).

We use both: show and tour. I like more ''tour'', though. And usually try not to use ''I'', but my clients wants to see/tour/view/visit/etc.  

I am more specific.

• Showing the Home
• Showing the Land
• Showing the Forest

Showing. But if you lined up several properties to show consecutively, yeah, it's a tour.

It is showing in my area and we call or schedule the showing with the showing centers not the tour centers.

My area has it's own Lingo!
