Drone photography is difficult in much of our market because of the no fly zone around DC.

Doubt it... it's only useful in limited areas... sellers are not asking for it. I use night photography and/or aerials as appropriate, but not full scale.

The RIGHT CHARLOTTE REALTOR!

I've been using a professional drone photographer for some time now - the sellers love it and my homes sell faster than others in our area. I attribute that to, not only the drone photography but, the aresnal of marketing that is done for each one.

The drone photography is not used on every property, however, only specific ones that have a need for it - golf course, lake, equestrian, acreage listings, etc.

I've been using drone technology on some listings (not all) for several years now. I "measure" the use of drones because buyers and sellers want it, like it and are growing to expect it. I also believe that it sets me apart from the average agent.

I bought a drone to do it myself. The costs of local people is huge and upwards to $500. As soon as i get the hang of driving this, i will be a pro in no time

I have been bombarded just in the last few weeks of drone offers. The prices are coming down & 2 I was really impressed with.

Will I add drone photography to a subdivison of townhouses though? I think that I can get my own drone & do a couple of photos of the roof at 50 feet. I am serious - another agent did that & when one of my sellers saw this in my presentation he laughed. I'm sure he thought it was overdone just as I did.

I have no data in which to give you as to it's value.

I have not used it and I don't see it being used in our area ... plus it would not be price effective for my practice at this time.  I'll continue to learn and see.

Not much interest in it around here. Our county website has Pictometry Imagery which allows anyone to see aerial photos from all directions, along with everything else you can imagine about a property. Really is no need for drones.

I don't use it currently the hoops I would need to jump through to use it myself or the price I would have to pay a professional company to do it are just too prohibitive for most listings.

Here's Why"

Effective August 29, 2016, real estate professionals around the country may operate drones for a host of real estate-related purposes, such as capturing aerial imagery of property listings, but not in much of Northern Virginia.

The National Capital Region is governed by a Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA) within a 30-mile radius of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, which restricts all flights in the greater DC area.

The SFRA is divided into a 15-mile radius inner ring and a 30-mile radius outer ring. Flying an unmanned aircraft within the 15-mile radius inner ring is PROHIBITED without specific FAA authorization. This includes all of Arlington and Alexandria and much of Fairfax County (Tysons, Vienna, Fairfax, Burke, Lorton).

IF I were to use it (and that's a BIG if) the house would need to have serious land and features that could only be seen (or be best seen) from the air.

It is not widely used here, nor are sellers asking for it.  Yes I've seen some real pretty ones, a friend of ours had used a drone to do an arieal fly of the streets leading up to the house.  It was pretty, but 3 minutes in I still hadn't seen the house yet!  Wasn't my taste.

90% or more of my business (listings) are not candidates for drone aireal photos. Google earth covers what anyone would need to see and that does not piss off the neighbors ... as far as we know.

Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 Aerial photography is quite common in commercial real estate. It makes a nice video, but I think potential buyers are more interested in what is inside the home than just the outside.
