Definitely trim them, Jeff! You don't want to move the walkway - it's positioned exactly where it should be for this house/style. 

If she kills them by trimming them, it's not like Boxwoods are a 'rare' hedge either!!

I know Boxwoods take forever to grow but they should have been shaped over the years. Now they are going to be hard to trim without balding them. I would yank them out & plant some pretty small ones.

If home is not for sale and owner is okay with it, leave it alone. If home is for sale, they do need to be trimmed back so that the walkway can be accessed.

I would definitely trim those hedges, if the owner could be convinced of course.

Since it is not for sale, I would leave it as is. Unless you want to help and trim them to make it look cleaner. 

everything needs maintenance once in a while, including your bushes.

BIG trim.  I did that on a walkway to the lake a few years ago and immediately after seller had that done the house got offers.

It's not the style I particularly like although in any event they need to not encroach on the existing walkway. There are probably some photos showing the original design intent and I would begin there.

With permission, have them professionally trimmed. Time to start letting go (respectfully) of the home and sell the house.

Trim bushes

Lightly trim the boxwoods all over and to open the pathway to the house. After the buyer buys, he may choose to take them out.

I would trim the bushes.. I don't think it would hurt them... plus they would look a lot neater!

I'd pull the damn things out.... reseed....and then cut the edge of the lawn....

I would suggest either trimming the bushes or removing them and planting something smaller just for safety purposes.

The house is not for sale.  I do not own the home. There is nothing I can do. 

If I owned the home I would trim the bushes and create a clear path to the home. 

The person may, with respect, want to live out their life in the home. Too many real estate people feel that aging people need to sell ... because they want to list it.  Aging people may not need to sell ... it is their home ... they may want to live there until they pass on.

It appears that some trimming may be a good idea.

A good trimming would do wonders for this home, but don't have a 90 yr old do it.

These look neglected and trimming them you would end up with just sticks and twigs left. They will grow back but that will take a couple seasons at least I think.

You might be better off to start from scratch and get rid of these entirely depending on if the house is going to be sold in the near future.

They sure take away from the curb appeal, so definitely trim tham so the walkway is assessable.

Bushes have no sentimental value for me. I would cut them out and replace them with something more functional and attractive.

Depends on the shrubbery. Severe trimming would result in unsightly mesh of twigs, barren of green on the sidewalk side. I don't know if that is an improvement. It could be 8 weeks before green reappears.

I would write the check to replace shrubbery with something that makes this 'MONEY SHOT' impressive.
