I had to look up "canonical tag". I thought you were playing a schoolyard game with a priest.

If you take note, blogs do have a tab to access the HTML. The tab in the edit tool bar is marked <>
Declaring onwership of your original content using Canonical Tags is a great idea.
the HTML code. would look like:
<link rel= "cononical" href="https://www.davidmartin.com" />
Repeat for every page on your site you want to make canonical.
How you would confirm this works and big G is responding accordingly is beyond my pay grade.
Be aware, AR TOS #3 indicates they own what ever is posted to their website.

Not sure what you are asking but you can manipulate the HTML if you know enough about coding.

Yes, David. Here's an example:
I do this on the bottom of my AR posts in very small, very light font (remember this is ONLY for the search engines)...
I write "Originally posted at _____" and TYPE the link there. THEN, I add this LINK to the typed link (if this makes sense!):
<link rel="canonical" href="http://www.icharlotterealestate.com/common-home-remodeling-projects-diy-vs-pro/">
Save that code and drop your website page/post link in where my highlighted text is above.
Here's a link to the post in the example - you can see how I add the small font/color link at the very bottom of the post (before the signature).

You can insert the html code using the source code button <> when you're writing the blog. I don't believe the location of the canonical tag is relevant so long as it's on the page somewhere.
