My only experience with AT&T was with my cell phone service which I changed to T-Mobile a number of years ago. I'm sorry this has been an ongoing issue for you. Good luck.
The barista at Starbucks says to order an extra pastry -- you deserve it.

My direct TV dish is now used as a bird bath.
My advise is have a land line (physical) connection to the Internet
AND
HOT SPOT capability with your mobile carrier. These should NOT be the same company.

Gabe,
I would be livid! We did have Direct TV service when we lived in Napa, since at the time, we were know as the "last mile" area. Would I use them again, No! I do not know anything about AT&T. Verizon has FIOS in Florida, but not in Stuart, just checked for you. Best bet if it was up to me is AT& T, A

I have had AT&T Internet in the past. I had no issues with it and sorry I moved to Comcast. Why did I move? Cost. In the end, it was not worth it. No experience at all with Direct TV. Good Luck!

Man that sucks! I have a cellular hotspot for backup for these issues (through my phone). Costs, but for emergencies it's worth it. If AT&T can get out there and get you setup quickly, go for it.

I feel for you Gabe, this is so frustrating. Hope you found information, and have internet soon!

Circling for an answer to this question. My experience with that frequency range has been that on a cloudy day, you can lose your signal.

Satellite is much slower and more expensive. A wireless system from Verizon or another phone provider might be the better option.

In my area it is only Spectrum, no other option for internet. I do not watch tv for years.

No experience with either. But I've had clients who used AT&T and dropped them.

Direct TV w/ no contract....
We had a Com&$)* call center. I had a call asking me to go to that street taking 2 photoes of each room, count each bath toilets.Make adjustments on the repair. I told the default co the inspection money is OK there are no houses on that street. It turned out that call center did not pay its mortgage for a long time. It is vacant these days. No, I declined it is at least 50K sf in size.

AT&T isn't bad but they tied you to a contract. Direct TV isn't very good. If you have a bad weather or just slightly stronger wind your TV goes with it!

We have Direct TV and it has been reliable. We have AT&T cell phone service so we get a small discount on the total bill since we bundle.

I had AT&T dsl for years and switched to comcast - can I ask what the problem is?
Are you down because of IRMA?
Did you know there is a local hidden server for all comcast users?

Joni Mitchell warned us that you don't know wht you got til its gone. Hope you are up and running.

We have the AT&T cell service and Direct TV in CT and love it. Of course, no cell towers, but use AT&T's "Microcell" device, which is like a mini cell tower in your home, albeit useless when there's no power.

AT&T may not be better, T mobile appears to be third choice. Verizon, Fios, Century, windstream, xfinity don't seem to have customers who love them.
Comcast posts they haven't got the towers back up, and lines down ( which they need to invest the money and put them underground in dry tunnel as these storms appear to be a trend not a fluke) If enough customers yell and walk, they will either get bought out or fix it right
My house is rural, no land lines no electric lines. I have ATT with a booster, and ATT like all utilities is required by law to provide service. Then I bundle my cell phone and Direct TV (owned by ATT) I have satellite internet through Excede. Call me I have a couple old boosters and a Yagi I bought but never returned - if one would work will send free

I use my local Century link (AKA old ma bell) and have very very little issue even when someting happens on a weekend they are out to fix it.

My worst experiences have been from Comcast. I do not think AT&T will turn out to be better at all
You know in my town, the village gets a cut of all this so they have a direct hotline for curcumstances just like this. See if yours does.

my iphone has AT&T....never had an issue.... I use Verizon for Internet and cable tv...

Sorry, I have none, if your cell phone is working can you use that as a mobile hot spot? I had a bad experience with Comcast charging me an exorbitant amount when I was moving away from Florida. I went in the office and was talkind with a customer service person loud enough so others could hear me. A supervisor came over and said he would take care of it and he did!

Direct TV was a customer service and billing night mare. worst.experience.ever.

Direct TV has always had wind problems. I had at one time, AT&T internet, but is was soooo slow. Comcast is the best out of the three. Call them up and complain and don't take no for an answer. Tell them you need it fixed NOW!!!

I have no experience with either. So sorry. And how frustrating for you!

So sorry to hear, Gabe. What a major nuisance.
We have had them for a number of years. We watch little TV. Hate AT&T's customer services but have had no issues with my Internet for quite some time, TG

I have Direct TV in my building and it works well when there is no wind or driving rain.No experience with AT&T internet service.

Oh my Gabe Sanders - that's awful! I have Comcast and got it back after 4 days. Your damage must have been far more significant. I can't imagine. Thank goodness you have power though - you do have power right? 4 days of no A/C here was unbelievable in this heat.

Go for it! Nothing can be worse than what you are experiencing right now.
