I'm so sorry I can't be of any help on this one, Gabe. My clients in SC who are stuck with Comcast are never happy with them either.

My hubby suggested that he had heard about a company, something like, "Gen-5" that you may want to look into. I've never personally heard of it but, we feel for you!

Years ago, maybe 12 years ago, I was on satellite. At times it was very fast, at other times very slow. But always worked. I have clients in a part of town, all currently on a broadband satellite feed due to their remote location, no complaints that I know.  I'm sure they perfected the technology many times over. Maybe worth looking into and see who offers the service.

Unfortunately I don't Gabe, but hopefully, your question will bring someone here who has some experience with satellite for the Internet.   

Have the Starbucks people asked you to leave yet?  Or at least buy something easier to prepare than your usual Triple, Venti, Half Sweet, Non-Fat, Caramel Macchiato?

Fortunately, no. I know people who opted to go that route but none of them were fans.  

We have some here that are reliable, but can be affected by bad weather. People along the mountain connect to a relay mounted on top of a farmers silo, which then sends signal to satellite.

They work a little better in Oklahoma City becasue of less severe weather. AT&T has laid fiber optics in our neighborhood and I think that is our direction.

Gabe - I use satellite Internet because it's my only option other than dial-up on ancient phone lines.

When they advertise "high speed" on TV I want to reach through the set and slap them! It IS "higher" speed than dial-up, but sometimes pretty slow.

On satellite you have to be very careful not to leave any web page open when you're not using it - especially pages that might suddenly start playing a video. Video eats up data at an alarming rate! So does advertising with revolving images.

Also, don't plan on watching video on purpose. You might be able to watch a 5 or 6 minute clip without interruption - and maybe not. Sometimes it comes in 10 or 12 seconds at a time, then pauses for twice as long while it loads some more. Pretty irritating.

I'm told they keep improving it and Hughes Net is now advertising more speed, more data, better service. I'm tempted to call but haven't done so.

My son has Internet through his Verizon cell phone service and it's faster than my satellite service. If we had cell service here in the mountains, I'd switch to that.

Direct TV is popular here: TV,WIFI, Internet & Phone packages.

Oh my gosh Gabe,  Comcast is BIG but not the BEST. Their non-service "Customer Service" is all about branding ... it does not really exist. I am so sorry you are still dealing with no Internet.  I do not know anything about Satellite Internet providers.  

The Hotspot on my Verizon phone does a great job whenever I am on the road.

We use Direct TV and it is rarely out. Affordable? Pretty much like all the rest. I get a little discount since I have AT&T.

Geez Louise, Gabe! You must be going nuts. I've not had personal experience, but at this point anything has to be better than what you are going through.

      I'm tethering my Verizon cell phone right now.  My CenturyLink landline has been out for a few days.  The Verizon signal is noticeably slower than a landline, and if I download video or other large file it will eat up my data in a hurry.

     When I am completely out of internet service, I go to Taco Bell.  They have screaming fast wi-fi.  Just be careful!

We used satellite TV for a time, but had problems every time it snowed. We are back to broadband internet.

So sorry to hear you are still dealing with this, as no doubt many are. What a major hassle. Sorry can't help about Satellite.

We had have a Verizon dispirited tech went down man hole cut all fiberglass wires after getting terminated. Over 100K account were out of service for 2+ days.  I just drove to the office where they have service.

I guess Mr Kim Rocket will aim at several US key satellites with his H rock..,

 Satellite is common here outside of the city limits. Direct TV & Huges Net comes to my mind. 

Dish Network or Direct TV should be able to get you going Gabe, except when the rain pours down.

We had hughes net for the rescue team, very slow and difficult to setup.  We've switched to cellular providers.

In Denver these are packed with snow in the winter and get bad service, but you won't have that issue.

Maybe it is time for an Apple  laptop and camping at Panera!
