Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® I have to agree with Nina Hollander . If you go to a site like Yelp, almost all of the ratings are negative. I would not recommend it for real estate.

I virtually never rate unless I am unhappy. That seems to always be the "way of the world." So I'd rather not make it easy for someone who's unhappy about something I have no control over to rate me.

Personally, I get tired of all this rating business all the time. Each time I go to the bank, they send me an email asking me to rate them. It's too much and I won't do it.

I like the idea of it being on my website to ask.

We have a 3rd party rating system on our site for our clients to review our service as well, Hella.

If you are satisfied you accept the service. If you are disappointed or got ripped off the whole world will know it virtually. Most Yelp and Z reviews are posted by professional reviewers-often not working, $20-30 a review.

Some real estate entities are already doing that. They will remain unnamed by me.

Most reviews are from people that are unhappy so it's important to ask your satisfied clients to offer reviews, as well. I have good reviews and a few bad. I respond to the bad in a professional manner and I think it gives readers an opportunity to see that we do the right thing.

My office sends out a short survey from a third party company to each client after the transaction closes asking for their opinion on the services provided by the agent... It will identify what aras, if any, the agent needs to improve their performance. I think this benefits agents to know that so they can make the necessary changes. Keeping in mind, you can't please everyone... Happily I have a 4.8 out of 5!

I like to warn people not to ask me what i think if you do not really want to to know. Eating dinner and having an hour experience or buying something at a store is not like spending 30 to 45 days of ones life giving that buyer or seller everything we have. There are ups and downs and real estate, that can change daily and hourly. An issue comes up, we solve it, it is what we do

It seems we cannot do anything without getting an email asking for a review. I delete most of them, including web sites I visit.

One of the broker owners we do SEO and marketing for does this on her website. She has a Rate Us app, that encourages people to rate her services.
Also, we have a WP plugin that allows people to leave reviews right on our website. I like how easy that makes it although most of our sellers still send us a letter or an email with their testimonial and are not fond of going online to do it.
I see both sides from a realtor point of view; it is great as long as the reviews are good but if you do REOs, or rentals, and every have to evict someone, heaven help you against the angry tenant who often seeks vengeance. I see that on reviews on Google, yelp, and glass ceiling. And there is no way to get those deleted. That is the bad part of it.

Hella M. Rothwell, Broker/Realtor® - good idea for sure! Though I'd rather request the review from someone who I have done business with.

I immediately thought of the complex and very useful rating system Amazon uses.
People treat the rating system on amazon and yelp very differently. However, if you were to integrate the amazon rating system to real estate, I think people would find it very useful.

Not sure of the true value - a detailed survey may be better. Everyone asks for ratings these days!
