Legal and possibly court action! Been having some fun with some court action of my own!

(This is of course after doing the obvious things)

A demand for funds is step number one. Step 2, an attorney letter. Step 3, you must decide if it is worth it to pursue. Meanwhile, you can blog and post about this company including yelp and it may cause them to choose another name but refund your money? Who can say?

Try calling the credit card company and void out the payment

Pete Xavier with X Group Real Estate Advocates is right.... you don't have many options!!  it's always wise to know who you're dealing with.... Nestor & Katerina Gasset (katerina) is the one I would use to create a website.... she does a great job ..... many on ActiveRain have used her ....

Attack them (with TRUE FACTS ONLY) via social media - the cheapest way to get them to notice. If no results, hire an attorney.

You could get on FB or G+ & beat them up over their business practices. That would lessen any future business from these rip off artists.

That really isn't that long for a check ....

File a complaint with your credit card company. If you paid by check, depending on the amount, file a claim in small claims court. They will need an attorney to answer or you will get a judgment. Cheaper for them to refund your money! 

threaten to file complaints to BBB etc... eMail, calling them yell at the phone ...

Is the office is Houston or Florida?

Perhaps a demand letter from an attorney.

If you paid by credit card... contact your credit card company directly and explain why they should issue a refund. 

There are so many scammers out there. I contracted with a well known company several years ago - and they published my incomplete and unapproved website without my permission!  I escalated the complaint up the corporate ladder and got my full refund - but it wasn't pleasant.

Sounds like court action may be needed. Did you use a credit card? You can file a complaint through them

You may need to have your attorney take action on this.

If they had you sign a cancelation order on 8/31- it can take up to 4 weeks to get your money refunded depending on their banking system and how they process refunds. What you can do is to call your credit card company and issue a dispute on the payment, send them your signed agreement to cancel. They will then contact the vendor and ask them to answer the dispute. You have the evidence that it was cancelled. 

BBB, credit card company, consumer affairs, state District attorney... etc.

I would not honor their credit card charge.  Post a complain about them on line to as many website as you can.  Shame on them!

Was a contract involved? If so, that will dictate how you proceed.

I hope you paid on an AMEX card. They seem to be really good about taking care of these pesky situations.

Cancel it with your credit card company, not worth your time to go around in circles or sue them.

you do not mention how the payment was made in the first place, if credit card, you should be able to get it reversed without waiting for them to refund. if paid by check, a demand letter sent certified mail may prompt a quicker response.

There is always the threat of a law suit but my guess is to keep applying pressure and you will get your refund.

BBB report and sometimes local news outlets offer help; in exchange the story.  Of course, this is assuming you have exhausted other routes (in writing). Contact credit card company and complain as well.  Good luck!

I typically pay with AMEX which allows me to dispute charges. I havw yet to have a company reverse it. Check with your credit card company.

You may need to file a legal suit.
