It really all depends upon the situation - I would want to be a good person and help if I were you AND if the agent was truly being 'despicable.'

However, I would want to get all sides of the story before I made the decision to help.

Jack.....more to this story as a few others have said. Ask more questions and see what's really going on.  Always do the right thing for you.

Let us know how successful you are helping the sister. There may be a really good reason, as has already been mentioned. And I gotta tell you the sob stories are 99% of the time bullshit stories. Trust but verify. And if you can help, power to you.

Well, so here's what I think.

There is probably a lot more to the story about the person living in the home with their sister than will be shared. There's three sides to every story!

So, as a good person, what are  you going to do to share your goodness in this situation?

I would think they could be 'one and the same' Jack Lewitz.  If you are a good person you would be a good agent.  I think of this as a Package Deal.  Now I realize being good isn't the same as being perfect (whew . . .  dodged a bullet there . . .), though I think if you are a good person, you are good in other ways.  And this could be a goal to strive for, as we are all human.  What a difficult situation for the sister and the realtor, and I'm sure (as in everything in life) there is a backstory.  Too many 'maybes' in this situation that we don't know the answer to.  I'm thinking there is some thought process and reasoning in this situation that was not shared.

I believe that I am both. They are not mutually exclusive. But do you really know what's behind this story? And one sister who won't allow another one to live with her is not necessary either a bad person or a bad agent.

There may be other circumstances as to why the real estate agent sister doesn't want the other sister to come with her to the new home. Let's not judge because we don't have all the facts. 

I do think I true to do the right thing in most situations and sometimes that can have a bad effect on some people involved.

I know I'm a good person. This is tricky as I was in a situaiton like this last year. Mom just let the house go into foreclosure to get rid of the daughter. Daughter called a church friend who called me & I got involved. That was the ONLY way that the mother could get away from the daughter. Not knowing the daughters work ethics, etc. I would see what I could do to help but I bet there is a financial issue here they are not telling you.

I'm not going to judge I decided in the future.

When a family relationship is sooooooooo bad that the solution is moving and not sharing the entry code, that suggests to me someone long ago stopped listening.

Often for self-perservation, one must cut the ties and let the 'accusers' have their day. When none of them step up to fill the void, that is the validation needed of the action taken.

Ist here a rule that a sister needs to provde living space for the other sister?  I'm confused.  I dont live with my siblings anymore... At some point, most people get their own lives, unless it works for both parties to continue, i dont think there is any requirement to do so/

Two sides to every story. Maybe the sister is a leach that refuses to contribute to the mortgage, utilities, or general upkeep of the home. Maybe she's mean. Maybe she's causing friction between the agent and her spouse. I don't know how you could she the aget is "bad" without knowing both sides of the story.

Lot's of missing details in the story, so setting that aside.

I think for me it's best to be a respected Realtor and a Golden Rule person.

If you are a good person it trumps the good agent, but a good person will  be a good agent. Use your skills to help people and the money takes care of itself-sometimes working for free is the right thing to do!

Not knowing the circumstances or the entire story, I cannot judge this.

As we go through life, we can make every effort to be a good person and a good agent.  Unfortunately, based on factors beyond our control you will NOT be viewed as either by everyone.  So all you can do is what you think is right and carry on.  This situation sounds dicey. She very well may need the guidance of a lawyer, rather than a real estate agent.

I think everyone wants to be a good person and good agent, but it doesn't mean you can't have both. Many don't, but it all starts out with being a good person. Once you are, then everything else will fall into place and others will realize that you are a good agent also

Good is in the eyes of the beholder just like beauty.  People apply their own standard to others.  In my eyes I am good (as a person and agent) but others will have to make their own decision.  In the words of Paul Harvey.... I am await "the rest of the story."

Ok this is kind of funny, I have an older brother that is a rascal and some people think we are twins. Couple times I've been asked which brother am I, the good one or the bad one, I will leave it at that.

I think that family dynamics are very difficult to discern from the outside. 

Most my people tell me I am both.

That's easy. Get more info and make sure the storyline. Do the right thing.
