This question has a multitude of potential answers. What's the prospective's situation? What are the stated objections? What are the real objections?

I respond appropriately. Every situation will be different and unique to the person I am engaged with. A canned response to anything just does not fit my style.

I hate to say "it depends" but it does!
If the objection is something with a clear path to resolution, I just answer. If there could be multiple ways to get them past the objection and more info will help, then I'll ask more questions.

Direct answer if I know the answer - if not, I will ask for clarification or let them know that I will find the answer for them.

I am a truth teller...ask me a question and I will speak without analyzing or planning my response.

Each circumstance is different. For instance, if someone asked me if there is smoke in the air today, my answer is a straight forward "yes." But if someone asked me whether or not they should offer a certain amount of money on a house, my answer would involve asking them questions such as their motivation, their comfort level, etc.

I respond depending on how I read the person.

It depends. Really it does. We should have an appropriate response for the question and that answer can vary based on many different factors.

I would give a solution-based answer, based on what you 'do'. What I 'think' sounds like it's based more on emotion and feeling, and less on fact. I will read replies below Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate - and I do believe both answers might be correct, based on someone's personality, and that applies to both the realtor as well as the client.

It depends on the objection and could be either or both.

Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate - going 3-deep always helps to understand the objection better...

It depends on the client and the interest they have shown and where we are in the process. Early in I ask lots of questions, later on I offer more solutions and food for thought.

If more information is needed, I ask a question. If it's a straight-up objection, I give the solution.

It really depends Andy. If I know the clients well and think their objection is really not an objection but rather an open to discuss, we'll discuss more about their goals and what they've already told me. And at times if it truly is an objection I hit it head on and suggest an alternative solution

Some of each, but more often a solution based answer.

If in discussion, I explore. While exploring, I ask questions. When we come to differences, I want to assess that for accuracy. Finally, the source of the objection is quite relevant. What is behind it? Is it real and reasonable etc.

Depends on the question, depends on who asks it, depends on why they are asking.

Andy Brown-Climer School of Real Estate Objections can only be overcome by asking open ended questions. What I think mades no difference in overcoming an objection.

I"m always solution oriented and focused on fixing the stressful situation or even better preventing it from happening. So i do listen carefully and ask a lot of questions before suggesting the possible solution.
1,752,737
It is always a more positive step to answer the question and complete the response with a responding question to secure more information, plus, it clues the other party that you are on the same 'page'
1,539,804
Depends on the situation. Who's objecting, what is my role, how serious are they, etc. A lookey-loo at an open house, I'll just acknowledge and move on. A real buyer I'm representing, I'll often probe. Representing the seller, I always probe.
5,493,546
Why are they objecting? Sometimes you have a direcct answer and sometimes you have to probe. Knowing the difference is the key!
8,162,523
The answer would relate to the situation and the level of understanding of the party.
2,329,415
Unless it's truly a legitimate objection, which most objections aren't... I turned the objection into THE reason to proceed.

That's dependent on the situation, of course.
"The house is too small" might be followed by "How much more space do you need." But "The yard isn't fenced for my dog," doesn't neet a follow up question.
