That is great news as you have stated many times the outrageous fees that HOA's charge in your area.

Oh, how I wish they would follow suit here in North and South Carolina, Fred Griffin - they're ridiculously over-charging here and something needs to be done about this. It's highway robbery!

This is a very good idea Fred Griffin . HOA's can and have gotten so out of hand. AZ cracked down on them a few years ago.

Nice. But it is not true for CA. Ours charge for HOA docs and for any additional docs they forgot to attach the first time. True story. 

there are rarely any HOA's here... all of our community roadways are maintained by the town....

I have a HOA that charges just for a transfer $850

I was glad top see this and still feel $250 is 50% too high.

HOA's run by people who were bullied as children now try and get back at the owners. Good thing Florida put a stop to the fees. California is insane with HOA's thinking they can charge a thousand dollars for some dump paperwork. I started a website where I uploaded free pdf copies of ccr's bylaws and budgets of some to the worst HOA's in CA

That's Good News.  $250 is too much as far as I am concerned. Yet, at least it is capped!!!! Amen to that.

The $250.00 fee is for a 10 business day turnaround.  The HOA or managment company can charge an additional $100.00 for a rush (3 days) and an additional $150.00 if the property owner is delinquent in their assessments, so the total cost could be as high as $500.00 in certain circumstances.

Even $250 is an outrageous amount but at least they're making an effort to stop the nonsense.

HOA's quickly saw landfall monies during the downturns and liened everything. The banks paid off like slot machines. Regulations are necessary

Here in Calfornia we have a law setting the amount HOA's can charge for documents. They are still charging outrageous fees for a pdf document! $100, $200 for the documents! Fries my butt!

On our condo in Jupiter we have had $13,000 in assessments in the last year and more coming. So if I understand you question which I may not, an assessment is not limited or can be used to get around this?
