Ours are fairly clean, big fines for littering and crews out there cleaning them up several times each summer.

We do see a few suicidal deer though.

My city has clean roads and highways. 

They do prisoner work around these parts and it does make a difference

They do a great job here - and I do see folks in jumpsuits doing clean up from time to time too!

Oh my goodness, Dennis... that sounds just awful. Can't say the same about the highways in the Charlotte area... lush landscaping, pretty flowers all along huges stretches of the roads.

Oh hell NO.  My area and freeways get top billing for dirty, trashy and homeless.  I don't know why we are not using resources to clean up. Insane!! In my area the local government wants volunteers to do clean up.  

Boston doesn't have trashy highways.... they actually have groups picking up debris on the sides of the highways periodically...

Our local sheriff's office has inmates cleaning the local county roads. In the city, volunteers clean and weed our roundabouts and city parking strips. There are street sweepers which the city uses for the actual roads.

Louisville, KY, pretty clean.

Our highways are roads through paradise.   Private companies can "adopt" a street.   The interstates and main highways are cleaned up by contractors.   Other state and county roads are attended to by prisoners on work release, or by misdemeanor offenders who got "3 days on the Sheriff's Road Patrol" as part of their plea bargain.

We consistently rank among the worst place for communting .. Northern Virginia area

Wow glad I do not live there.  Lucky we have the sheriff department have some guys in orange vest picking up trash on our highways in Denver.

I live in a clean city.

Tennessee overall does a good job of keeping highways and right of ways clean and trash free.

i always found ohio to have relatively decent roads, the I5 corridor between Stockton and Los Angeles is pretty awful, chicago hands down is the scariest road to drive, and the only place my truck was used as target practice

for reference, i was a long haul truck driver for 4 years before becoming a Realtor and have driven over 400,000 miles in all 48 contiguous states.

What a mess.....who's not paying attention. That's horrible.

Ours aren't bad at all. I think up by you they should put the chain gang out to clean it up.

That would be way too logical, Dennis.  Make the prisoners work?  Cruel and unusual punishment.  

Oh, that is so sad, Dennis Swartz! Even passing through Charlotte via our freeways, passersby see gorgeous green and impeccably clean! I've often joked that instead of being called the Queen City, we should be called the Green City!  I hope how soon someone catches on and takes the bull by the horns and gets Columbus freeways cleaned up, Dennis.

Traveling I75 South, every 30 seconds a plastic bag would blow from the Waste Management truck ahead of me. When I observed all the stuff piled against the chain link, it all looked similar.

As a result Saint Petersburg Florida is highly likely to ban plastic bags at groceries. That means instead of using grocery bags as my kitchen bag, I will need to BUY other plastic bags. There will be no change. Why not just fix Waste Management?

We have very clean roads in Gaithersburg, Maryland. 

That does not sound appealing. When I get investors in from out of state they remark how clean Oklahoma City is.

Chicago is right up there when it comes to dirty freeways!

Minnesota is great...I thought Florida, especially Orlando was dirty for such a tourist destination when I was there
