I personally find the best reward is when someone says "I found you online" and you know the source is ActiveRain(or some other blogging effort) rather than a gold star.
Carol Williams - you may have another candidate for your Saturday Second Chances if Tony isn't featured by then.

Tony, I have had 101 featured post since I have been on AR and needless to say I am probably more proud of the other 100 that should have been featured but were not, because I have always been an outspoken person on this platform... with that said getting Featured often has nothing to do how good your post is. The real Reward is when you get a listing or a buyer thanks to your post, Endre

Good enough may not be the answer.
We have all seen plenty of good posts that get ignored, and plenty of mediocre posts that get featured.
It all depends on whether the person in charge of the features notices it or not.
But I am sure that Bob Stewart will be able to give you a better answer on this.

I have long ago given up trying to figure out which posts get featured and why. Delighted that you are happy with your feature. Personally, I'm less interested in being featured than being found by the public via my blogging...that's what really leads to business. And many of the featured posts are more relevant to membership than to the public, I've noticed. They don't generate interest/contact from public.

I dunno . . . did you do the naked full moon dance with the rum bottle, cigar and dead chicken? (It won't help either, but it will scare your neighbors) 3:)
Seriously, there is no metric when it comes to featured posts.
A long while back, I deleted ALL my posts, including 30 or so featured ones . . . and started over. LOL
When they start paying money for featured posts . . . then I'll care.

Asking for a feature and or complaining about not getting a feature simply does not get you a feature. We ALL hope features go to the blogs with ral catchy blog titles, that want to make you click it. Then a blog that makes you think, ask a question or generates discussion. The however part is some get features for everything and anything, 2 or 3 a week, while others never see them. The best reward is when a consumer hires you after reading your blog.

This is just not correct blogging ettiquette. If you were asking for opinions of 'do you like this or that', it would be different.
Who cares what people think as long as you think that the content is worthwhile & genuine.

It is frustrating. I will never forget when a "popular" AR member wrote a short uninspired filler piece about a 2 foot wide side walk he had installed on the side of his driveway and it got featured. Whilst others that write well though out and interesting posts get ignored.

The best result is when the consumer finds your post after searching Google for "should I rent or should I buy in Santa Clarita in 2017?" - and then they call you!!

Here is my take on Featured Posts: They are more about giving than getting. The authors are sharing insights, knowledge, and experience in business to help others improve the bottom line in their business. From my observations, you rarely see consumer oriented post Featured. Nor will you see politically slanted posts featured.
We all know there are a lot of excellent posts that don't get Featured. That is why I started the Second Chance Saturday series. Every week I ask for nominations for the SCS series, which is intended to give AR bloggers another opportunity to get more exposure for their posts. If you have a post you believe is of interest to the general membership, please send it my way.
All that said, most of your effort probably should be put into consumer oriented posts. The Featured posts feel great but they probably aren't going to make YOU any money. But, they may help another member look at their business in a little different way to improve their bottom line.
Like I said... IMHO... Featured posts are more about giving than getting.

I've tried to figure out the rhyme and reason behind "Featured" posts and have found there is none. Many, many terrific posts have been overlooked, and some real nonsense has been featured. If I were you, I'd focus my efforts elsewhere.

Never have understood what is featured and what is not. In a former series some posts were featured that were not my best work and some of my best work passed by. Who cares! I kept on posting!
