We live in interesting times.

I just wish that the music & art were as cool as in the turbulent 60s/70s.

     I lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Vietnam Era, the Woodstock Era, and the Cold War.  I waited in line for 2 hours to get $2.00 worth of gasoline in the early 1970's, so that I could drive 55MPH maximum on the highways.  I bought my first house at 10% interest, then watched rates climb to 16.5%

    Lately we have to endure Radical Islamic Terrorism, and now we have Liberal Leftist Terrorism.  

  Uncertain times!

I do worry about our children and what we're leaving for them. 

Personally, being the best I can be to every person I meet, see, know - that's my contribution to making this world a better place. I know I can't single-handedly change the world but, in my little sliver of it, I do my best and hope that everyone else will follow-suit!

They were saying the same thing 100 years ago...the wheels on the bus go round and round.

I'm seeing these as exciting times...what a time to be alive!

I couldn't even attempt to say it any better than Fred Griffin I lived during all of those same times..... and I agree wholeheartedly with Fred.....

I don't think you are alone at all.  These are the best of times and the worst of times.  It depends on your point of view.  A

Depends on who you are talking to, some are in for a very rough time, and others will make a profit on their misery.

Times are certainly changing, some for the better and some not. Each era has challenges as the populace become more or less tolerant of trends or peoples' own agendas.

The rudeness everywhere is a sign to me that everyone is self focused and has their own agenda. Caring about their fellow man is limited and not a 24 hour a day concern. It is more about if it is convenient at the moment.

I think the world has always been in uncertain times.  We are more global now in every way and are more aware of world events... so the danger seems worse and our demise more imminent.  

As for what will I do?  I will vote and I will do the best I can to control MY world.  That is where I can make a difference.

Uncertain times for most. Some of us have been expecting this our entire lives and it does not come as a surprise. It will only get worse.

History has always been all about uncertain times and exciting times... nothing has changed in this regard. I am not worried about what I am leaving for my children or grandchildren... humanity always seems to survive. I plan to do nothing.... on some level I'm in the twilight of my years on this earth and it's up to the younger generations to do something.

Not sure what I will do, other than try to spread some reason among the unreasonable.

It is up to each of us to make a difference.

The basis of our feeling of unease, Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 , is what we have personally experienced during our lifetime. I suggest that the experience of our parents, especially those living in Europe, during WWII, was absolutely horrendous.  My husband's grandfather on his mother's side was a German immigrant - a baker - and was not drafted into the American army during the second world war due to his business being "essential." His 4 brothers, all still in Germany, were drafted into the German army and all killed in battle. Go back another generation and think about the terrible situation with brother fighting brother in the American Civil War. And you can think of terrible political, civil, and biological situations (the black plague) in history which were far worse than those we have experienced.  However, I do agree that the level of current political discourse is beyond anything I have seen in my lifetime. I think that Trump's election was partly a pushback against the recent changes we have experienced as a country. Locally I was shocked at how our residents treated our congressman at a town hall - shouting him down and not allowing him to talk. I truly hope and pray that we return to a more civilized climate where differences in opinion are debated with polite give and take and people are willing to listen to the opinions of others.

Definitely some uncertain times, but with plenty of opportunity. I worry about what our grandkids are going to be facing

Changing times... and it will continue.  I can go with the changes and not get caught up in the drama all around.  

As any other time period there are the good time and the not so good.  Any day we wake up on the right side of the grass is however...A Very Good Day!

I agree with you with the opportunity BUT we are living in dangerous times. I used this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt in a Memorial Day speech I gave -  “Lest I keep my complacent way I must remember somewhere out there a person died for me today. As long as there must be war, I ask and I must answer, was I worth dying for?”

It is the best of times, it is the worst of times.  I think there is excitement and uncertainty in every generation and this one is no different, thought he opportunities and struggles are different. -Kasey

Yes, we can make a difference. There is opportunity in adversity and challenges.

Your post comes at just the right time.  It is the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.  Maybe a new movement will take place, one that will stick around this time.

Times are always uncertain and always exciting...depends on which one you embrace.

"Pray for peace but ready for war" aside from being a pretty good Avenge Sevenfold song, it's the motto I live by.  Hence why I carry a gun and spare ammo.  Hence why I'm getting security cameras installed.  An RV/camper and a truck w/o electronics would be nice (so it'll still run after a high altitude EMP blast), but that's outside my budget and a bit too far "down the rabbit hole" for my taste.

It is a known fact in science that when a population of a particular species peaks, then some sort of disaster will strike to reduce numbers. Disease, infertility, etc. Perhaps these forces are beyond man's control afterall?
