Lots of new apartment buildings have gone up in our area over the past 5 years.  It has not been a good thing for the other landlords who face increasing taxes and other expenses every year, yet no room for rent increases.

Lots of rental apartments being built all around town... hopefully that will relieve the pressure on rental prices. But then, who knows... the new stuff is quite pricey.

Our area was greatly over built during the oil boom thus with the "bust" in oil prices our rental units went the other way. Landlords immediately faced the lowest occupancy rates ever seen here and now are scrambling to hold on to what they have by dropping rents and offering all kinds of incentives.

Cheaper to buy than rent here. 

we have low listing and rental home inventory....low across the board!!

You have government funded companies like Santa Monica based Blackstone Group that were given hundreds of millions by the Obama admin to buy up everything they could and turn them into rental backed securities.  That is where a lot of the inventory has gone.  Turn the nation into a nation of renters with no "stake in the game" and they won't care about the future of the country.  That is why the founding fathers wanted only land owners to be allowed to vote, because it mattered to them the way the country went.

I have one rental that will be coming on the market.  In one year the rent I can get for it jumped 12%.

Our market has moved upward but not more than 5-10% increase. Supply is pretty much the same as 2 years ago.

It depends on the time of the year.  We have lots of colleges here, and after graduation there are more rentals.

We have far less rentals in the suburban areas as home owners can sell and do not need to rent

very hard to find a rental in Phoenix

Rental rates are outrageous here! They have risen considerably - last I read, it cost 58% more to rent a similar property than the monthly mortgage if one was buying the property.  

I see ours up a little but not as much as it had been increasing

Rents are escalating..if your able to buy they are buying!

The provincial government recently announced significant changes affecting the rental housing industry.  The full details have not yet been released but it is expected to have an effect on the rental stock and rental industry here.

That is tough for renters, but great for landlords 

Rents are up.   Way up.   There are several very large (200+ unit) apartment complexes under construction (not in the student areas of Tallahassee).

Out of Control. Skyrocketing rents and home prices. 

It's a tight rental market and rents are rising. I don't know the specifics. There are some new rental units being built in Carlsbad in 2 different residential communities which will no dubt go quickly.

We are increasing in the suburbs tremendously but not so much in the city. They are different animals that's for sure. I wish they would get more rentals around here. What is available stinks or needs rehab.

We have a company here that buys properties & then rents them out. They are all updated but the rents are just a joke. They prey on people that are moving in from different areas that don't know. I'm saying $500+ per unit. They do sit vacant for quite a bit of time.

Rentals are hard to find around here.
