I've actually trimmed down my Facebook list to practically nothing. I'm confining it to actual personal friends. And people I didn't like/vv in high school don't qualify.

I don't worry about it. Every now and then I look to see if there is a request I want to honor but there are more important things to worry about. I'm pretty cautious these days about who I agree to be friends with

Facebook is all business for me, if I wasn't in sales I'd be off it, so I say friend the non-creepy ones; you never know who they know.

those I do not know get ignored

• and those who do know me get accepted as long as they are the real person.
• Some of my friends are getting spoofed by hackers who copy their site and then send a friend request to all of their friends, watch for duplicate sites.

Personally, I no longer accept requests from people I don't have some type of "relationship".

I am very select now who I friend. In fact I have gone back and cleaned the cupboard so to speak. I am keeping it closer to the vest.

If we have no friends in common and they don't have any information on their facebook page and/or didn't send me a message first, I delete the request. I seem to get a fair amount from supposedly military guys who are all divorced or widowed. They have one picture, their profile picture, or maybe a picture of them in a uniform with a dog or a child. And they usually live on the other side of the country.

Say Yes ... but only to the ones you want to be friends with.  If you are not sure if they are "real" click on their name and it will take you to their profile.  Check them out and if there are only a few pictures -- or only pictures of women -- do not accept the request.  Stay safe my friend!

I check out their profiles. If we have common friends, interest, work related friends I will verify they sent the request before accepting.  Those request with only a few pic/friends or no history are deleted. 

Friend them all...

Many of the people on my list are not appropriate for my personal facebook page... I don't know them or they are clearly spam or they are local agents with whom I'd prefer to connect on LinkedIn. So I ignore those requests or delete them.

If I don't even know them it is a quick discard.

Be selective. There are many false profiles on Facebook.

Choose carefully.

BE careful...remember its a public world and once you link to them they get your links and you get theirs.

Check out their profiles to be sure there's more than one photo - if there's only one photo, that's a tip that it's a hacker! I delete and report those!

If you don't want to be their friend, don't friend them.

Delete.  I get a lot of them as well. Mainly from men appearing to be in the military.  

you add them very carefully and you make sure they have something in common with you.... real estate agents and/or people in professions you may need.... or people who have similar interests as you.... there are many nutties out there... I have a list of people I judged wrong and they are blocked now...

What is YOUR purpose for Facebook?

If Facebook is separated from your personal life, the more the merrier. It is a marketing tool that get better as the audience grows.

However, if it is a conduit that connects you to family and friends, you need to keep it family and friends.

Not sure I have a plan. Was more receptive earlier and now a bit more conservative. Not a big user to begin with!

It depends, most of the time I do nothing. If it's business, then I friend them on my biz page. If I don't know them, then why?

Reject at least 90% of them especially the ones who want to send me nude pictures.

As long as we have mutual friends, I personally know them, or clients, I add them.  They can bring business your way.

I do not add people from out of the country looking for females to spam with getting grants or telling me I am lovely, etc.  I have learned to check them out before adding them.

Just send them my way if you don't figure it out.

I rarely add new "friends" in facebook now that the novelty has worn off. I do occasionally delete one or two of the old ones, however, if they post something more than twice that I find objectionable.

Have seen so many hacks on FB for friending people you don't know.  I wouldn't!  

I don't friend the strangers, as I suspect most are fake profiles. I do friend those I may not know but have mutual friends in common or similar profession.

I'm like Jeff Dowler ..I don't worry about it..I'm very cautious who I'm friends with anymore.

     If you don't know them personally, or have some previous real life connection (former co-worker, high school classmate, 3rd cousin, etc.) then ignore the request.

I have a FB account strictly for business which is a public site. I get random friend requests from (mostly) guys I don't know. I reject all of them.  I prefer not to friend other local agents but do accept friend requests from out of area agents or others in real estate related businesses, even if unknown. There has to be some connection or common ground for me to friend someone even on the business site. On a personal site, I definitely would have to know the individual and actually like them.

I've had a few local agents find me (damn you facebook for making everyone visible!!!) and request to be friends.  I'm ignoring them.  I don't use FB personal anymore and if I did, I would keep it down to people I'm actually friends with.

Gotta love "friends" you've never met, don't know and who can potentially destroy your reputation - answer enough LOL?
