Attractiveness can work for or against. I can think of several ways. Will a consumer waste the agent's time 'just to hang out with them'? Will the spouse be jealous? Will the consumer take the agent seriously, challenge/distrust them or be dismissive if they are attractive?
At the end of the day, knowledge and 'street smarts' will win out.

Attractiveness does get a second look and maybe a third look. After that is comes down to competence and knowledge and service.

Define "attractive." Define "more successful." Define "challenged." I'm with Joe Pryor in thinking this is a ridiculous and insulting question.

Depends. I does not hurt to be pretty or handsome but eventually they open their mouth to speak. 

p.s. I do not believe there ere woman who are not pretty. Some of us just need help to present our-selves. Same as  houses:) 

Many decades ago, I owned an Image Consultancy Business.  I was hired by individuals and by corporations helping business people "put their best face forward".  I taught them how to improve their "curb appeal" first which in turn helped them with confidence building and then business/social skills.  It all went hand in hand.   At the end of the day, it was their confidence that made the difference but what comes first?  You don't have to be drop dead gorgeous to be successful but you don't have to be the opposite either!   As others have stated, it is competence and confidence that will get you there.

I agree with Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I think confidence is more attractive than superficial appearance.  A ready smile also makes one attractive to me.

I think it ultimately depends on the person and their skills and competence as much as how "attractive" they might be viewed. But more importantly, what is the definition of attractive?

I am not sure. I know of some agents that are not attractive (IMHO) and they are the type that make you dumber by listening to them and they sell more property than they I would ever imagine possible. It's a bizarre business.

Probably, thats why they put their photos on their cards.

My first thought / reactions was .... OUCH. 

Then my mind went to ... define attractive ... where does that scale lead to ... ugly.  Define ugly.

I think an attractive personality and how you treat others has far more to do with success than looks. Their are some pretty agents with bad attitudes

A scientific study is necessary to answer the question at the global level. I've seen people who are generally considered by many to be physically attractive to be successful and also nonsuccessful. Likability rather than attractiveness might be the word that elicits a stronger yes with exceptions of course.

I believe we've had this question here before at some point. My honest answer would be that just like with everything else in life, looks are important initially until you can get past that phase and then competence and skill will win out everytime. Will it help you get your foot in the door to be beautiful? Of course, it will. Every single time! Any other answer is just politically correct. But there will always be successful agents that are remarkably successful and don't fit the mold. You can achieve by wisely utilizing your best attributes, be it personality or whatever.

Depends on what / how you define success.  I network with a variety of sizes and shapes. Attractiveness is not about looks.  It's a package deal.  What I find attractive you may not.  

I'm not sure of the answer, but I do notice you don't have a profile picture! Please note my profile picture is from just before I got into the Mortgage industry and it was probably my peak "Attractive" time period.

I would hope they hire me due to my knowledge and ability to BE their agent, not for my looks (or lack thereof).

Agents who are competent and provide good customer  service do well.

John - I do not see any direct relationship between successful agents and their attractiveness.

I suspect they get more business, at least to start. If they suck at their job, they won't get the referrals and the business will fail. I'm so thankful my skills can make up for my looks! ;)

That is true for every business and industry. Unfortunately, it is usually part of the package, but not always.

I agree with Inna Ivchenko  and Debbie Reynolds . They eventually will have to show that they are knowledgeable. Then the clients see that their home/investment worth hundreds of thousand dollars is in the hand of an incompetent agent.

You can have a face for radio and if you hustle, deliver looking like a plow horse pretty can be deemed darn attractive to your buyer and seller. Results are tied to work ethic, being friendly, efficient and reinventing your list, twist, sell (repeat). Not high cheekbones, short skirts and a wiggle when you walk and talk. Ken and Barbie plastic REALTORS don't look so hot and lose the luster when they tie you up with delays and not delivering the high end service. Pretty is as pretty does momma always says. And that's all I am going to say about that Jenny.

No. I can think of some not so attractive people who are quite successful, and the reverse as well.
