That sounds like spam. I've been seeing some things like that and they look real, but usually one letter is replaced with a russian letter. Often when you google it, you'll see others writing about this spam. I've had a number of them over the last few months. Each one is different. One seemed to be from the Huffington post. It's probably click bait wi/ GA.

get spam from people I know, even my bride, but ultimately it's not them, it's a MIMIC.

Very odd indeed. Was the article anyway related to real estate? I link to other articles, too.

If the Washington Post linked your websites, be greatful, be very greatful. Those back links are gold.

These sites have done this for years - they're mirror sites and don't really hurt anything at all. I just ignore them!

I am not sure what happened, but do you do any retargeting ads? I don't see a link to your site on the Washington Post, but if you are doing some retargeting ads it may have shown up on their site temporarily. I don't know that positively, just speculation.

I saw this myself about two weeks ago. And was surprised as well. Could it be a new way for someone to locate you to spam you? I have since received a number of emails with viruses attached. Don't know if these are related, but perhaps?

Sounds like referrer spam or search term spam. This has been going on for a very long time and there is no real way to prevent it.

Yes, it does. I just don't understand why they would do that. I do not see the value in doing it.

Very odd and my first thought was spam. I think Debbie Gartner is on target, and it all sounds suspicious. In today's world of hacking who knows...
