I'm not a realtor, but I am a contractor.  I would think networking with home inspectors would be even more useful. Also, BNI is a great place to start.  Find a group w/ a strong realtor, inspector, GC and other other contractors

Do you do roof inspections for buyers and sellers?  That will enable you to meet a lot of realtors.  There is one roofer in our area who has this market cornered.  He does the inspection and then does the repairs.  He is expensive, but people use him since he already did the inspection and it is easier

I attend a lot of smaller marketing meetings and there are service providers there as well.  It is a great way to meet real estate agents and tell them what you do.  The service providers take turns sponsoring the meeting, which means you get to buy the coffee and the pastries, and you get to tell the group about your business.  Once one person in the group uses you, the others will follow.

At one of my meetings, the flooring guy gets a ton of business from the group. He attends the meetings regularly and talks to people.  It may not happen immediately but it willmworkmover time.

Our local board also has a trade show every year, and if the local board in your area does something like this, you may want to participate since that is another good way to meet real estate agents while telling them about your business

When you are in real estate, you need to be able to recommend roofers. Face to face contacts are the best way to build continuing relationships.

I don't "use" roofers, except for my own home when needed. Once in a blue moon I recommend a roofer to a client to do a quick inspection.

You've received lots of good input here.  I checked your profile.  May I recommend putting testimonials on your in your profile?  That  could be more powerful  and effective than focusing on the discount approach.  Good luck.

I think the suggestions of networking will bring you good results if you remain visible and continue to offer valuable information.   You may want to make a short presentation of roofing topics to some real estate offices or local REALTOR associations.

It varies on when one is needed. Sometimes it's not in a year depending. I work in townhouses so there really isn't the same need as if I worked entirely single family homes.

In fact, one of my listings needs one now for a boot around a vent pipe that the wind messed up.

Great question! Find agents who work with Rehabs and investors who like to flip the properties because those agents will be repeat business for you. Also, find agents in older areas where the houses may need roofs.

Where we live it is a rule in our town that roofs have to have a 40 year life span so that is not a lot of repeat clients in these newer neighborhoods. So look for older ones.

There are so many different kinds of roofs in this area, and when I recommend one, it's a company that specializes.  And I usually use Angies' List and send contact information for the top three.

I've had it come up only a handful of times, if that.  Usually called out by a general inspector.  My buyers thankfully knew a roofer already because I did not.

I'd say go out to offices and realtor networking events and get to know people there.  That could provide you with some good connections.

I have only needed a roofer 2 times in the last 14 years.  I established a relationship with the roofer I refer business to because he came highly recommended by a general contractor I work with.

Great question.

Roofs can last from 10 years in Florida to 25 years, when considering shingle roofing material.  That means at any one time 5% of the homes with shingles are in need of a new roof. Of those, how many are in the 'For Sale' status? It is primarily these homes that agents can be of help to you, but as you can imagine, the numbers will not be sufficient to sustain a business UNLESS you are able to build a network.

There are Many, Many roofers on TV and direct mailing and appearing in the newspaper, easily accessible to the public. Many of them offer 'no money down," "Pay on completion" or offer financing. What is the real solution you bring that allows an agent to recommend you?

When you have created this solution, you next step is to present your solution to BROKERS, not agents, where you can access 10's or 100's of agents at a time.

Here's a clue. You can have a roof installed with all permitting in place within 3 days. No one expects that, but is an example of a solution that gives others a reason to talk about you and your business.

For me it is knowing their work, that they have good quailty and return calls when i or my client calls. For a new roofer to gain my tryst it usually is a face to face meeting first. Followed by seeing their work and then free estimates or inspections when needed.
