No, not really. Not where I live now. But, if you include the Anglo/French war that is a constant in Canada, then perhaps. I've been viciously targeted whilst living in Quebec simply for being blonde and blue eyed. I've been asked to leave shops, I'd been written about in the paper with my full contact details asking for people to harass me. I've had my home attacked. I've had the "Language Police" come into my office and remove any English items such as a puppy calenders, memes, my nephews artwork, etc. They also made sure I was to never answer my phone saying "Hello" or "Good Morning". Our only English speaking school was bombed.
I felt safer leaving Quebec and moving to Belfast, Northern Ireland during The Troubles. Yes, this was Canada and still is. Would that be classified as Racist?

I can remember decades ago witnessing a homeowner walk into our office to list his home....he made it clear that he did not want a certain race of people to buy it.... I threw him the hell out quickly....no conversation was needed.

I have and that is when I have the conversation that I cannot nor will I discuss protected classes nor answer questions related to neighborhood compositions that would be in violation of the Fair Housing Act. They get the message and drop it.

I've had verbal objections from sellers who don't want to sell to a certain group of buyers. I show them the fair housing act, tell them I can't and won't help them, and leave.

I thought it was a joke when my Buyer proclaimed they didn't want to live next to any F******* minorities. But as we proceeded and they kept up their bigotry. I told them I could not, as a Norwegian, work with them any more.

I've yet to come across someone who didn't know the fair housing laws existed. I've had many sellers reject offers from my investors because they wanted the home to go to a family though.

Wow I read several of your answers. I am amazed that so many Realtors responded that they had never been asked questions about race color religion sex national origin familial status or handicap.
The last house I showed, the potential buyer asked me if this was a minority neighborhood. She went on to elabarate that racial characteritics were very important to her because she was a single mom and she had been mugged by a black person. After she finished I asked her if she was some kind of tester sent by the goverment to test my answers. She assured me she was not. I asked her if she knew it was illegal for me to answer questions about race etc. She said that was news to her. I asked her if other Realtors answered such questions. She said she had never asked a Realtor such a question before. My next question was why did she asked me.
I get questions similar to this all the time especially "Are there kids in the neighborhood?' People have a hard time understanding that I can not discuss that with them. I tell them that I may not like the law but I obey the law.

Yes. I have. Seller refused to accept highest and best offer from [blank]
I advised of Federal laws and that I would remove myself as the listing agent if they did not accept.

I have had buyers mention not wanting to be in "certain neighborhoods" or live by people of a certain race/color, etc. However, as soon as I hear anything of the sorts, I tell them the codes I am bound to and how I could lose my license if those are violated and they stop right then and there. Most people don't understand this and don't mean any harm. Everyone "gets it" after that.

Absolutely yes...in south Florida...many times. Always from sellers who do not want to upset their neighbor friends by selling to gay or minorities.
HOA's were the worst...they screened and some of their rules were crazy...(like that a buyer couple had to be married) also asking me about the buyers origin (yes, they even sent me an e-mail barring me from showing any of their condo properties to minorities.)
And once we had a minority buyer who was upset that we were showing him white neighborhoods instead his race neighborhoods. His price range was higher end, which is the communities we showed him. He paid us for our time and we parted friends.
Now that I am in Central Florida I have not had any issues like that.

Yes, I have worked with such people.
I simply advise that, by law, I am PROHIBITED from sharing such information or taking action that supports their agenda.
They are allowed the choice of continuing with an agent of integrity or finding another. But, they will understand. "We are not going to go there."
You should hide your face in the shadows of shame for including the inflammatory image you posted.

The photo you posted might indicate that you like to "stir the pot." Haha. Before becoming a realtor, I had decided on a neighborhood that I wanted to live in and rent for a year. I hired a realtor and she showed me the house that I wanted to see in this neighborhood. I liked it and it was the one that I ended up renting. However, on my way out of the sub-division that first day, I saw a for rent by owner sign and I called the number out of curiosity. The owner actually lived in the house next door to the one she was renting and asked me how many kids I had and what their ages were. I asked her what difference did their ages make and she responded that she would not rent to anyone with a toddler because toddlers were just too destructive. She also told me that she would retain the right to come and go as she pleased because they maintained the a/c filters in the house. Yikes, I couldn't handle any of that for sure. I just got off the phone and moved on, but in my opinion she was way out of line.
