I had brick wainscoting on the exterior of my first home. I loved it.

My investors love these! They're putting them in a house today, as a matter of fact!

There are so many ways to use wainscoting. It is prettiest in a dining room or used in a hallway or mudroom. I am seeing new homes installing at various heights and even as high as 5 feet. It is all about proportion and scale.

Buyers in this area love wainscoting. By the way I'm from the Bronx and it took me forever to spell it right.

We are seeing more and more of this in the new homes being built, at least the models. It's not really a California thing but becoming more popular

Wainscotting, wainscoating, beadboard....I have heard it all and have seen so many different variations. When someone says any of these words to me, especially buyers, I have to ask them " what do YOU mean?" LOL.

We see wainscoting in older homes in Oklahoma City. Most of the time it will be ripped out when the home is remodeled. Since tend towards the modern it's OK with me to take it out. If it was eseential to the look and character of the older home I would probably want to keep it in.

I've seen it in back East or in New England homes, and seldom out West (unless if the home was bought by a back East buyer!) Barbara Todaro. It's paneling that is on the lower part of wall and is usually a contrasting color to the wall paint (white wainscoting with a yellow wall or a brightly colored wall). I've also seen wainscoting with a wall-papered top of the wall.
