At least this is a question I have yet to see in this section.

Study hard.  Take lots of practice tests.  Good luck with your license examination.

Kimberly Taylor Real estate agents don't survey properties other than maybe a visual inspection of the location of the property lines.

I'm not 100% sure; however, I would guess it is a lot of walking and digging for boundary stakes.

Surveyors have a schedule like everyone else, and they get backed up just like appraisers. They don't care if the job is for a real estate transaction.

I have only a modest clue, having had a couple of surveyors in for a client. I don't envy them their job, and it's not just out in the field walking around determining boundaries. And then you start getting into marking the boundaries, the elevations, fences, easements, etc. No wonder it costs what it does

I don't know...there is a huge difference between an agent and a surveyor. Good luck finding one here...I don't think I have ever seen one on this site.

I don't know of any surveyors on this site.  Perhaps you could find one in your area and ask to interview them.

Kimberly Taylor - why should it be any different than a regular 9-5? If you were Real Estate agent, that day would look like total Zigzag!

My father is a retired architect, and has told me a few stories over the years. If you survey in urban areas, not a big deal.  But in the bush you contend with poison ivy, oak & sumac, the odd bear (maybe) and sometimes marshes.  My dad went out once with an old hand surveyor on a job for a summer camp in British Columbia. The trees gave way to blackberry brambles full of thorns.  They were so thick, they formed a network and had grown five feet high.  The man walked up to it, onto it and kept going!  Their thorns make the canes impossible to separate and they easily hold up the weight of a full-grown man.

Your teacher is messed up for years. There is a land surveyor who brings his instrument and stake flags on the boudary.  These days it is high tech satellite wireless to get to the right meridian and longitude angles, minutes, and seconds.

My last involvement I requested a mapping of 13++ acreas and surveyor came back stating the buyer owns another parcel on the opposite side of a main road that the seller did not know about. That was like 4000+ additional ft gain.
