Yes, I used to vacation in it all the time when I lived in The Bay Area: it's Salinas, Monterey & Carmel By The Sea. It's where I got engaged and spent many romantic weekends with my bride.

Cristal Clark - here's a great map and listings of all the towns I found online. Seems fair game to list them! Good luck!

Goes back to the novelist, John Steinbeck, who wrote about California's Salina's County. But I couldn't tell you how far out you can extend that categorization, not living in California.

I don't know where Steinbeck County is - but is it local and does it really matter that I don't know - doesn't it matter more whether your community knows the term? I assume it is around Salinas or Monterey

I just think of Salinas for that area, never Steinbeck County.

No. I assume it has something to do with The Grapes of Wrath, or East of Eden.

Not an "official" county ... right? I feel that is a risky marketing play. Fewer will know than those who know the official name of the counties.

Yes, I have. You can use it, just have to give an explanation of why it is callec that, and refer to the author. A

Mount Sereno, CA-he spent some time there working after dropping out of Stanford. I got a home into contract 3.5M - buyers don't like it too old. There are no new estates there.
Evergreen (East San Jose), CA-near Yerba Buena, San Felipe Rd. John was picking strawberry there. Homes are very new Spanish style today. They don't sell well this year selling about 98.8%, outside that area is 103.5% lower than 115% before.
Salinas, CA-not a good area to live. Lots of unemployed migrant workers there 5.9%(was 20%). A few blocks away is Del Monte Foods. Right now the entire area is covered with smoke from the huge forest fire. The 5000 firefighters are getting tired. Looks hopeless right now. I have a blog on it.
While I am not a fan of Stenbeck, I know an antique store owner who inherited John's writing samples, Smith Corona type writer, furniture and memorabia at Cannery Row. She passed away and the collection went to SJSU library. John's writing pace is too slow. The setting is when SFBA south bay looked like until 1960s. I have written two history books on the area.
My brother-in-law (sisters ex) worked in Evergreen in the 1960s save enough money to go to school while picking strawberry, apples. Next generation Americans will not take this kind of job or even doing house chores. They are busy chasing Pokeman Go. What can we say?

Having spent a good deal of time there, I would know BUT if you are trying to attract clientele who are not particularly literate, it may be difficult. LOL

I wouldn't go beyond what your local market calls Steinbeck Country.

I'm very familiar with that area but I think many people would not know how far noth-to-south it stretches.
