I don't do open houses on any weekend, much less a holiday weekend.

Depends on the holiday.  Travel ones like the 4th, no.  Family ones like Easter or Mother's Day, yes.  We had a good turnout to our Easter open house.  I actually have an agent scheduled to show one of my listings on July 3rd.

I do not have open houses on holidays and rarely throughout the year, unless the seller absolutely feels this is necessary to sell.  And it rarely is.

No, I try to avoid Holidays for an open house or local college football. I will show a house on a holiday, if the sellers allow it.

I have had Open Houses on several occasions on holidays, but I've been fortunate the past several years to be in escrow during holidays when I have listings. Just luck. Or hard work in marketing as Lou Ludwig would say....

Once I had two open houses on Father's Day weekend, one on Saturday and the other on Faher's Day.  I eventually got 5 transaction sides from those two open houses.

Yourquestion was about HOLIDAY WEEKENDS.

The answer is YES,

The caveat is NOT ON THE HOLIDAY ITSELF.

Have I had success SELLING a property?
Selling is one of the five purposes of an open house. The process of SELLING the house through an open house is not well suited for holiday weekends. Allowing a 24 hour period of silences loses the momentum created by the event.

Those stopping by at a holiday open house will be moment of opportunity responders and more suited to participation in other open house purposes.

For some serious Holidays I take the day off, like Easter or Christmas, but for the others I work unless I have some family or volunteer committment that takes me away.

Opens on these days are generally popular.

If I'm available and clients do not mind, I hold open house anytime anywhere. You do not need many, you just need at least one solid lead.

Open houses don't work in my area, so I don't do them. Heck half of the restaurants in my small town are closing for the holiday weekend, so I'm sure an open house wouldn't attract too many people.

I have done them in the past but not in a few years. I do not remember selling a house during that time at an open house.

I rarely do open houses at all any more.  If seller wanted an open house on a holiday weekend ... I'd do it.  We don't need open houses in my market to sell properties.

You will receive answers that tell you that no open house event will lead to success and others that any open house has the possibility of success.  It depends on the agent, the market and timing.

We have, but our experience is poor for holiday weekends. You might get visitors to the area, who may not be qualified, are casing the joint, or are just bored.
