Not since 1980's. "Farming". It was not for me.

I did in the beginning - that's how I learned there were 8 real estate agents in my immediate neighborhood - talk about an awakening LOL

Not any longer, a combo of rude responses and not being safe keep me from doing it

I have never done door knocking.
What you leave at the door will determine your success.

I don't. Too many risks and liabilites involved these days.

Emily Wojtowicz once only - and that was the end of door knocking!
You can guess - not a pleasant experience for sure.

Not anymore, since locals do not like that and unlikely even open a door. Leaving your market updates on the doorsteps or clip it to a fence is usually the best choice( unless you pay for mailing).

We tried it way back in the day and it didn't go over too well. We were just trying to spread the news about an open house coming up. It was like "Here, I'm going to hand you this flyer so YOU can throw it away." LOL!
We'd do better today but it's not part of our game plan.

I have not done this but I have seen it done. Dressed well with a gift works

I haven't tried door knocking other than to let the neighbors know I was holding an open house.

I try to treat people in the same manner in which I'd like to be. I dislike people coming to my door more so than telemarketers on the phone. I think it lessens our professional reputation and has an air of desperation. But that's just me, in my market, in my country!
PS I also think it is dangerous in this day and age.

I have but only when I have a listing in the area and/or an open house. Maybe the timing was bad but I found very few people at home and this was on a weekend. I know people who door knock and say they have had much success, including listing leads

I have been door knocking. My goal was to introduce myself. I believe what's most important about door knocking is to continue the relationship...direct mail, door hangers, items of value, more door knocking. Once is not enough.

Emily - I did try door knocking a long time ago when I was looking to sell a listing in a neighborhood. I had limited success, but people were open to talking with me.
I have considered door knocking in an area I am looking to farm.

I have done many lead generating activities over the years including door knocking. It wasn't a good match because I don't like people knocking on my door. That said -- I did get a listing from an out-of-state owner who happened to be visiting the property the day I knocked on the door.

I work a great farm and I give hand outs all the time and it helps the phone to ring.

I never knocked on doors for business. However, some people have been successful at it.

I don't cold call and don't door knock and haven't done this in 25 years. I hate when it's done to me, so no way am I doing it to someone else.

You have to have a purpose & that makes it easier. Needing listing for buyer, etc. It's tough because not many people are home anymore OR don't answer the door.

Once. In 2004. FSBOs. That was the weekend we took three listings. Not since - we refined our method for approaching FSBOs.

Not in years. I gt annoyed when people knock on my door when I am cooking or having dinner or on the phone , so I realize how they feel. I work from my home office.

I did it back in the day as a new agent. I just did it because another newbie had tried and came back to the office with two terrific listings. He had better luck than I did!

I have done door knocking and it was to establish myself as teh neighborhood expert. I would share market data.
2,224,473
I have done this, and should do it again. I always hand out a market report for the neighborhood. I have it folded so that the first thing the homeowner sees is...What is my (fill in the name of the subdivision) worth. I also had the door hanger bags to leave the report if no one was home.
Response was fairly good. Most people were very friendly.

sellers only. Often generate renters wanting to buy or would like to know what it takes to own.
