Only one suggestion so far. I don't use a photo editor so I'm looking forward to some answers. I will check out IPiccy & Ribbet.

I use iPhoto. It doesn't do nearly as much as Photoshop, but I didn't have to take a college course to learn how to use it.

Georgia Weaver I use PhotoShop, I can't speak to IPiccy or Ribbet. The software that came with my camera also does the bare necessities.

Ribbet is my favorite. Unfortunately it's no longer free but well worth the yearly fee.

I use Windows Photo Gallery that comes free installed on your computer. It's great for cropping, enhancing color, contrast, brightness, etc. Couldn't be easier. I use Paint to put text on the photos, something that Photo Gallery doesn't do. You may also have free Microsoft Photos on your computer, which has most of the same features.

Like some others, ipiccy.com is my choice for straightforward editing. I don't need full scale photoshop capability and it's online and free and does everything I need it to do.

I use Photoshop. But on my iPhone, I use Snapseed. I read about it in a NAR magazine of all places, or maybe it was CAR. Anyway, it's a great app for tweaking on the fly before posting to social media.

I have used photo shop, but frankly did not love it - to use it properly it would take a great deal of time to learn. Mostly use Apple editing, on desktop and on mobile devices.

I've used Ribbet for years. Easy to use, there's a free version but I'd splurge $29 and get the upgraded version. Simple, easy, does everything you would possibly need

I am not exactly what you mean by embed the text, as in if you are wanting to embed meta data into a graphic image or picture, or if you were just wanting to "glue" the text over a picture where it will become one image...
If you are looking to embed meta data to an image, I would suggest going with Adobe Illustrator as apposed to Photoshop or Lightroom, but that will take a little bit more know-how than just "gluing" text to an image.
If you are just looking to attach the text to the image, place whichever text you would like through the text option and then under the "Layer" tab (4th menu tab from the left at the top) select merge layers (bottom of the drop down menu) and that will do the trick.
If there is anything specific you have a question about, please just send me a message and I will be happy to help.
