I knew Barbara Todaro held the key to the secret of algorithims!

They wrote about this a while back when they added this feature.  They gave generalities, and no specifics.  It is NOT determined by staff (nor ambassadors).

It's a daily algo based on a combo of factors that are meant to show engagement.  I think it was a combo of blog posts written, comments received, comments given, thumbs up received (for blog posts and comments).  I believe it is done/changes daily.

I like being featured on AR.  However, that is not my primary reason for being here.  I don't really care to find out what their algorithm is or who is in charge of being featured, and I feel the same way about Google's algorithms.  Those who are interested in hearing what we have to say read and follow, those who aren't don't.  This platform in my opinion is not a popularity contest.  A

I have no idea and have never really given it any thought. Mostly I blog for the public and if anyone in AR wants to follow me that's great, but that's not my primary audience.

Manually read by staff most has to do with promoting AR .....

CALIFORNIA is a big state. Those with most points( multi-miilionaires) many of their features are not featured.

Hmm, I have no idea.  I need to check back on this and read all of the answers, as I don't have time to do it right now.  Very good question!  How do we see whom these members are that are suggested?  I would be curious as to who they are and if they truly are worth following.

Nina is right, blog to the audience out in the real estate wild blue yonder and worry less about the colleague connection. Yes social networking is fine but hang around the AR water cooler too long and you start seeing listing, sales drop. Work, stay humble, do a better job of describing your area events, the local property listings only you can promote oh oh so well if you put your shoulder into it... push and promote your area, your real estate listings.

I love the idea.  How I wish it had existed when I arrived.  I love learning from people where and experience is a great teacher.

I have heard about this but don't know how it was determined. When Kerrie was here she posted members on a rotation basis the Home Page as an introduction to newer members and others.

If you figure it out let us know.

I have not seen the list, so guess it hasnt included or affected me.  Im starting to think im on the do not feature list for new agents, old agents and such

Interesting question. Most of us are willing and able to get our followers organically.

If that is being done, I think it's wrong!  I think members need to dive in and engage to determine for themselves who to follow, based on their interests.

I agree with Nina . I blog to connect with the public at large and show them that if and when they are looking to buy or sell they find me and know a little about me , how I do business and my competency level to help them.

I seem to remember a long time ago that I would receive a version of the ActiveRain Daily Drop that had a featured or highlighted member but it's been years since I was "new".   

They are selected automatically and/or manually depending on how the program code was designed.
