I would still be just as active as I am now... (I know, I know... easy to say with the amount of points I have now)...

but without the points, I'm not sure I would have gotten this far.  I readily admit that I'm a type-A competitive guy... and it's the points that "trained" me into my bloggin habit.

The points have mattered to me. However, these days ... less and less so. My reasons for being here are shifting ... changing ... as I focus my time and energy on other aspects of my business. That said, I am already being less active and the points are not a determining factor.

I find the Q&A to be a fascinating new feature - a great place to ask and get immediate answers - so I would be Active in the Q&A - even though asking a question is a mere 10 points per day.

I would continue with blog posts - especially since we have a listing as a result of a Seller finding us in the 'Rain.

The other aspects that garner points - I'm not so sure about.

The relationships, as Sandy Padula and Norm Padula, JD, GRI mentioned - are priceless!

My habits here are established and stopped being dependent on points to drive me.  I'm here for the business, the friendships and the learning.

I've mentioned this before but when I started here in '08, I had no idea points were involved until after I was here for 4 or 5 months.  If you are seeking a free membership, then heck yes, points do matter.  However, I would still be here because of what I learn and the people who are here. 

There has to be some fun in whatever I do...and I find that here. So bring on the jokes and funny stuff too!

Points or pointless, ActiveRain works and I have old blog posts that still garner me phone calls, emails and contacts. Google over the years has been our partner in making sure our blogs reach the top of their ladder and there isn't a better way to market than posting quality content. Getting points for the "game" of ActiveRain leaderboard is just good ole fashioned competition. That being said, for me the Q&A is FUN. It allows us to ask/answer a quick question, answer and learn from others. I believe it often reveals our personality more than commenting on blog posts, and add to that some funny pictures, we have an opportunity to be entertained here!

I actually wish the points would go away. I think we'd see more people who take blogging seriously to increase their business. All those here posting, re-blogging, asking questions, etc. to earn points would disappear creating a site that is heavy on content. That content helps AR posts rank highly in the search engines. I'm not here for the points. I'm here for the business. The removal of points wouldn't impact my participation at all.

I'd probably be more active, to be honest.  As #1 in my area, and with a free membership, I have no need for additional points.

The point grubbing questions and blogs and comments bother me so much that I need to take a break every now and then to remind myself of why I do this.  Then I can re-connect and tune out those point grubbers, at least for a while.

     A relevant question, since Bob Stewart has alluded several times to a complete revamp of the AR platform, a cleanup of the referral page, an assessment of the Ambassadors roster, etc.

   I would still be here for the blogging and the Q and A. 

   Contests would probably fade away - "everybody wins a trophy" is not that motivating.

I would still be active even if there were no points, though I do enjoy seeing my points grow!  Points to me are not the only benefit, but one of many.  It is not real 'work' to be part of AR and in the AR Family, though it does involve 'effort' and 'time'.  Totally worth it to me Tony and Suzanne Marriott, Associate Brokers
