As an agent at least 70% of my buyer clients as for (and follow) my referral to a local mortgage broker.

Drive by the top five producing brokerages in your area or any of the Big Brand real estate shops and they all share this in common....on the front door will be signage identifying a in-house mortgage company. 

Reach out to any agent here on AR and inquire how often they are called by a mortgage broker or company.

Sure, go ahead and write a blog post instructing real estate agents/brokers on how to solicit and run these relationships.

Something doesn't seem right.

My experience is that Realtors are the ones that market the most and refer buyers to their mortgage bankers.  My main guy sends me leads here and there, but it's heavy on my end.  

I belive that most of their business comes from referrals

Many of the managing brokers are not using this to recruit but to build relationships with other professionals and to learn.

Good morning. I have 9 Realtor referral partners, they refer a lot of new business my way and I give all of them lots of pre-qualified buyer.

10% of my purchase business comes from Realtor referral partners.

I found my lending partner, John Meussner here in the Rain.  He did not solicit me.  We chatted. I liked him immediately - great sense of humor - and I decided that I wanted to test the Meussner waters.  I've been swimming ever since.  I think there are great opportunities for lenders and agents.

I refer out mostly. I hate to be solicited and assume most realtors do as well, so I market to the public and do the referring...

I came to AR not to promote to RE agents. I came to AR to learn how to properly market and promote myself...

I would suspect that the majority of business for most mortgage brokers comes from real estate agents.

While I don't have a percentage off hand, I get most of my business from my agents, since they know me and respect how I handle the clients and that I can close deals that no one thought could be done, and ON TIME. They also realize what I bring to the table, as I feel it never should be just a one-way street.
