We have ostrich farms in the wine country of Santa Barbara County.  One of our neighbors in Los Angeles had a huge pet snake that he used to take on walks while the snake was draped on his neck.  But, like Noah Seidenberg said, we have met lots of exotic people, and we loved every minute of it.  LOL Have a great week.  A

No, unless you count alpacas and ferrets which are pretty common here. In Palm Springs, though, a friend had a python, and it escaped and was AWOL for several hours. Finally found IN THE POOL TABLE. It got into the pockets.

No, but I would love to Renee Paray!  I will check the replies below to see what others had to write . . .  here in our community, it's only dogs and occasionally cats.  Here small animals are not safe outside, and all seem to be on leashes when walked.

Yes and the Neighbor was from Columbia and had Parrots that would get very loud when someone was near.... they were being used as early warning in case someone was coming unexpected or unannounced... a bit scary....Endre

No...not that I know of. At least no exotic animals were seen in the neighboring yards. 

Not that I sold, once while previewing I came across the homeowner that was a retired zoo employee. He had many snakes in a building, similar to a garage. Also 2 turtles. They had pet doors and trails to go outside. They were huge!  

I listed a home with many Exotic birds and elaborate cages 

I had one where the agent remarks said don't let the snake out

No, but the neighborhood did have the elusive albino cobra that sparked a manhunt out here a couple years back.

Yes...we were taking rural land, subdividing it and getting it approved for gated communities. There were blocks of misc animals of all sorts like a zoo! This city boy loved it too. Would feed and pet as well as marvel. Still do

You know honestly, it might be the people themselves next door that you should be afraid of not the animals.

A seller once told me the neighbors husband was quite exotic and should be caged and that is why they were selling

Alpaca seem to popping up everywhere. 

However, the real exotic stuff lurks in those designated preservation areas that harbor eagles, wood storks, piliated woodpeckers, osprey,  wild boars, coyotes, alligators, pythons, that Zita mosquito, bobcats,  and allegedly Sasquatch. Real estate code word - no back yard neighbors.
