We eloped. Our wedding cost under $1,000. We got married by an Elvis impersonator and I had a Spock as a witness. I have always thought weddings were an e-ticket as far as cost.

I read somewhere that it is about 30K. My daughter will get married in a couple of years, but as the good daughter she is, she doesn't want a big wedding. Some of my friends had weddings cost 250K, which I think is just crazy. Those weddings are mainly for the parents, as the bride and groom don't really have time to enjoy it. I say, have a simple wedding and give the rest of the money to your kids as a down payment on a house.

TOO MUCH !   Thankfully, I don't have that worry anymore because for eleven years, I've had the love of my life for the rest of my life !

I sold wedding and engagement rings before getting into real estate.  The happiest brides were ones that eloped or had destination weddings.  Doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg.  I'm guessing $20K is the average in the nation, but probably more expensive in larger markets.

Good morning Conrad. I would guess that the average would be $5,000 per hour and average of 4 hours.

We had a huge wedding but the cost was very low with friends, relatives, and people from the church contributing help with the cooking and other tasks and the VFW hall available for free since my father in law was a very active member.

Expensive weddings are not wise in my opinion.  

I've played my flute at some that were totally over the top.  And I have no idea what the average is.

They cost too much!  My friends and I had simple less expensive weddings.  About 20 years ago my dad paid something like $35,000 for my little sister. 

I have no idea, but I am keeping my costs down on the ceremony and spending it on the honeymoon.

I've seeing couples throwing $$$$$ but yet don't own a house ...just saying...My wedding costed $2k simple but beautiful :)

The average is kind of irrelevant.  It can vary a lot based on what you do/where you live.

In the city where I live, $35,000 - $58,000.

In the town where I grew up, for 200-300 guests, $62,000 - $105,000. 

It's almost a downpayment on a house.  actually, maybe not...houses are expensive here, too.

I am afraid to know. Thankfully I do not have marraige age children...

Mine was about $12,000 when I got married in 1998. My second one was the same price 3 years ago. That was 125 guests vs 35.

I read something the other day that it is $29,000. That sounds low to me but it may be accurate as an "average cost".

I could find a lot of better uses for that sum!

I'll tell you one thing. You dont get much for a little amount.

Somewhere around $25,000. It was a lot of money 25+ years ago when our girls got married and it's still a lot of money today to my way of thinking.

Around $30K but many are higher if income allows. Not a good investment IMO. Better to have a moderate expense for the wedding and bank your cash for a down payment on a house! ;-)

Ihave been to 3 in the last year.  ONe was under $4,000 and one was over $50,000

I got married on a beach in Cuba.  Total cost for the the entire event, food, drinks, rooms for a week, airfare, clothes, and the party was $3000.00 Canadian, which is probably about $2200 USD.  You sure cant do that anywhere in Canada or the USA for that price.
