I, too, was a Brownie and then a Girl Scout....my daughter did not want to join when she was of age.... I sold Girl Scout cookies door to door....and I don't remember anyone being rude or saying "no".... but that was when God was a child....

Yes I was. I worked my ass off to sell cookies in January in the Midwest. I went door to door. I remember falling on the ice and really hurting my knee ( I think that's the injury that still haunts me today. LOL. ), but I wanted to sell those freakin cookies. Then I had to go back out and deliver them about a month later. That sucked. I didn't have parents that sold them at work. I had to work hard at it, and I did.
Then my daughter became a girl scout. I drove her around, but she had to have the spiel and get people to bit. I also drove her around to deliver them.
Now I guess the organization does it a bit differently. You buy the cookies and get them right away. None of that sell and deliver later crap.

Wrong gender for that, but I did the Cub Scout thing. And although we didn't have cookies to sell, I'd say most of my growing up time I was selling something, either services mowing and raking, school fundraising, a GRIT paper route, even had a Krispy Kreme donut route as a 5th grader going door to door. And now here I am selling houses. The principles are often the same, but the scale and significance is WAY higher. Bill

No but my wife was and the scout leader came up to her one day and asked " Amy I see you have not earned any badges why ? " and her response was " because I think it's stupid " to which the scout leader replied" Amy I guess you don't want to be a Girl Scout ?" And Amy replied " I guess I don't " . Needless to say this was Amy's last day as a Girl Scout . We laugh at this all the time .

I was a Brownie and Girl Scout and also sold cookies. There really was not much salesmanship involved as the cookies pretty much sold themselves...the only "selling" was which type to recommend. Everyone seemed to want thin mints so those sold out first then it was a bit of a challenge to convince someone to buy whatever was left. Econ 101 - supply and demand!

Yes, I was a Brownie first, then a Girl Scout. Hmmm, I remember that we learned about how to cook out on a camp fire which was so much fun since my family was not a camping family.
I don't remember about selling Girl Scout cookies, but I'm sure we did.

Carla- I started as a Brownie (I can sing the Brownie song) and a Girl Scout. Cookies were 50 cents a box when I started. And, yes, some said "no" but I moved on.

Carla,
Boy Scout and then Explorer Scout. We spent time camping, not selling. I think I’ll go eat some of those cookies we bought.

I was not, but two of my daughters were and I got quite involved with one of them, even started training as a leader, but got very disenchanted with some of the practices.

I wasn't, but was a Daisy and Brownie co-leader, and was Cookie Mom 3 times. It wasn't too hard to sell them so my daughters didn't hear 'no' often. Doing a cookie booth was harder as people walked by more than they stopped.

Yes. Somewhere around my house I have a picture of my two sisters and I in our girl scout uniforms. I think I was a brownie and then a cadet - we did the cookie thing, and Christmas caroling in the back of a pickup truck, and made crafts and volunteered at all sorts of events. It was fun.

I was a Brownie but I don't remember much. All I wanted to do was play sports. So my mom gave up trying to get me into pretty dresses and let me play sports instead.

Yes and a Brownie before that. #1 seller of GS cookies in my troop for all four years I sold them. It wasn't all about selling cookies for me... I also earned over 40 badges... those were also learning experiences. Learned lots about team work in my time as a GS.

A person from grade school wanted to get reconnected from years back. I was the only person recognized him. I remember you had boy scouts uniform on he said you were in our troops? No no, I was the subsitute for traffic scout with the stick for street crossing duties while you rich kids had the meeting...
Your girl scout cookies must be < $1 a box then. It was like 25 or 50 cents a box.
