No, they usually follow me or meet me there. Relocation clients are the exception since they often don't have a car here.

Hi Jillian,

The ideal way is to have them meet you in the office and you drive them around the neighborhoods,  selling them the area. But, on the other hand some like to have there own time and prefer to follow or meet you there.

I make the suggestion, but the client has the say.

I had buyers that couldn't afford the gasoline to preview homes with me. They still were approved and got a home. I don't know if it was the best move for them, but it wasn't my decision to make. I did some buyer education with them, but I don't think they listened.

Now to answer your question...I usually end up meeting buyers at homes.

There are a lot of people who are able to afford a mortgage but do not own a car.  Some live in very walkable neighbourhoods that are close to many amenities and major transportation (trains, buses, streetcars).

One of our cheap bastard friends likes to use realtors as his own personal chauffeur when conducting business out of town. What amazes me is they all willingly oblige him, and most often times will even buy him lunch or dinner.

I find in my area that most people drive themselves, unless they are coming in from out of town.

I would not make assumptions - I have sold several homes to people who do not have a car and live in areas where they can walk, ride a bike or use public transportation. But you certainly want to see that they are pre-approved
