I've experienced frustration for all the reasons you mentioned with full-time agents. Fortunately, have not had to deal with any part-timers.

No part-timers as far as I know but some that are very poor communicators and make lots of mistakes

I had an agent tell me this week she couldn't get signed docs back to me because she was working her other job that day and night. I still don't have it back and that was two days ago. It now requires another email and text to remind her I am needing to finish up the paprework.

Have also experienced that with FT agents who I wish would get the H outta the way! ;)

Dealing with some of the agents is one of the more difficult aspects of the real estate business. 

The FT agents regardless of their years in business are sometimes not professional.   I prefer to deal with better educated professional realtors. These MBA, JD etc are great to work with.  They know the rules.

I worked with a postman and his client and he had very little regard for our time lines when he was at his day job. Hated it!

Yes! We finally closed on a deal that should have closed months ago. Lack of experience and lack of  Common Sense!

As others have said, it's a problem with FT agents too.  In general, though, I think PT agents try to be quite responsive.  If they need the money and are working a another job, they're anxious to get that lump sum paycheck.  In any case, if it is a problem, the DM needs to be involved in order to keep the transaction moving along. 

Oh yeah, it was like that all through the Depreciated 2005-2011 market and it's like that now because the "band-wagon" came to town with our sellers' market...now suddenly everyone is a Realtor again. I just let my peeps know, I'm their Winter patriot, not the Summer soldier, that seems to flood the appreciated markets when skills seem to be masked by the speed of the market. They are like Summertime mosquito's... annoying pests, but dead & gone by Fall. Yeah, I said it.

Yes, inevitably you have to assist them cause they don't know what they are doing.

Yes, but I usually try to help move things along without insulting the other agent.

Mary - It does get a little frustrating, but I just push them along as best I can to get to close of escrow.

There are times the part timer only answers after they get off work, and title has gone home, and question was time sensitive.   

I just closed one where the other agent was very slow to respond. Supposedly she's a full time agent, but it sure didn't seem like it.

Full or part time agent isn't always the issue.  Full service or part(or no) service is.

All of your reasons and not just from part-time agents but full-time agents as well!

Yes Mary and it is horrible. I am a full time 100% agent and this makes our work harder.

Mary Yonkers - when we don't get timely response, we do get frustrated.

However, once I know about it, I play in favor of my buyers - got a good bargain on a home for my buyers because the other agent was part-time!

Yes, but not exactly when I co-broke a transaction.  I have rental property in Arizona and my former agent managed the property for a number of years after I moved from Arizona.  She often couldn't be reached.  She couldn't answer the phone when she was working her other jobs.  She couldn't answer calls for my prospective tenants.  She was not readily available to show the property to prospective tenants.  My property would have suffered greatly.  I had to take the calls from Missouri, because I answer my phone.  I hired a tenant to show the property.  I could go on and on.  The property manager was a friend, but it was difficult having to do her job because she wasn't available.

I haven't run into any part time agents lately.

Yes, living with that right now. 

I have had these types of problems with top producers so it doesn't seem to matter, anyone can be unprofessional.

I have experienced bad deals with full time agents and great deals that were easy and fun with part time agents.  I think it has a lot to do with the person, not when they do their job.

Yes but also with full-time agents too.

If they have been part time, I haven't noticed it.  I have been having problems with the long term agents who are stuck doing things the way they've always been done, and may not be correct.

And sometimes you'll never even know that the other agent has a full time job as an engineer unless he makes a point of telling you.  I've had plenty of agents be surprised at the closing table when they find out that the entire transaction that they just finished was with a "part time" agent.

Think we have all been there with even full time agents.  Have to deal with it somehow.

Again, becuase I have answered a similar question, I have more problems with agents that have been in the business awhile.

most of what I listed when I was active was new construction, and I never had an issue.... I had all of the buyer's contact information and if the buyer's agent was not going to play the game as it needed to be played, my builder was not going to pay for that foolishness.... I would copy the buyer's agent by email and every phone conversation with the buyer was complemented by an email reflecting the converstion with a copy to the buyer's agent....it was double work for me, but we always closed on time.... I didn't put up with nonsense....I had too many subdivisions being marketed at the same time....

I can be patient with those who have other complications in their lives.
