Anthony,

Since we were in commercial real estate, we stayed in close contact with our developer clients, with properties that met their criteria.  With others, we did every other month.  A

Define "close contact" please.  At least give one example of that you perceive it to be.  Thank you.

My style is not to overwhelm them in their inbox, but try to meet up with them or call them when I feel there is something interesting happening. I do plan on doing a mailer of some sort this year to my clients generally sometime this year. Maybe.

Good morning Anthony. I like direct contact, phone works best for me, I average 45 minutes per day, but that also includes referral partners.

Yes, this is where I get the majority of my referrals. I send out a quarterly  newsletter through email to all past clients. Then I also use the Your Home and Lifestyle magazine that is sent out to my last 100 clients a month. I also will send out emails to past clients if something comes up that I think would interest them or they would need.  I have had referrals from clients to their parents, siblings, children, friends, neighbors, etc. Not to mention some of my closest friends I originally met as their agent.

Those that do stay in contact usually don't have to worry much about having any business during the lean times. Those that don't keep in contact with past clients, will always be worrying where their next check will come from—whether times are good or bad.

All the time.  How often depends on what kind of relationship I have with them.  Some of my clients are friends, so I speak with them regularly.  Others, I like to check in on at least a few times a year to catch up.

Anthony Acosta - I keep in contact with past clients on a quarterly basis. Once I have a client they are always a client - they just may not be active at given times.  If I can keep my services "top of mind" for them, they will be ready to refer me to you others. Any more than quarterly would be a nuisance unless they have voluntarily chosen to sign-up for my blog or follow me on social media.

My 2016 resolution. I just ported my 2,000 past contacts from my loan software into Outlook. An unexpected gem was that my Outlook calendar populated each month with more birthdays than I can keep up with. Sending cards are a great idea--I have some custom ones I had made from cardsdirect.com with my company name and phone number printed inside. I'm probably also just going to pick up the phone and say happy birthday a lot this year also--at least to the people I think are still speaking to me...
