I belong to quite a few groups but tend to post to the same ones over and over so I should probably cut back on some of my groups.

I belong to about 35 and plst to about 15 most of the time

I've joined some groups but I rarely go to the group to see the posts there. Guess I don't really understand the purpose ... maybe you can clarify for me?

I tend to post to 8 groups on a regular basis

I post to 3-5 groups each day. No idea how much it helps, but I figure it can't hurt.

Mary Yonkers I usually post in NEWBIE group and Addicted to ActiveRain group apart from KW and Market Report groups.

And 5th one is - 'WeblogAnything'...

I use about a dozen regularly and post to 3-5 each time I post.

I hardly post to any of them anymore.  Just occasionally.

It sort of depends on what I'm posting. Bananatude is one of my favorites and so it Bartender, Make It a Double.  But if it's a local post or a photo blog, it's different.

I never visit groups. I do have a few regulars I post to, but I don't think I get increased traffic to my posts because of posting to a group. I think Bob Stewart and the AR staff needs to take a look at this part of The Rain.

Initially I joined some groups but then noticed there's little activity so I deleted out

Three, two real estate groups and one political group.

Interesting question. I will need to follow up and see how other members respond. I do know that I also need to do so group cleaning...

Mary - I am not exactly sure that too many members post to groups, or visit them specifically to find interesting posts. I just think growing groups into the thousands, like Active Rain did, just became overwhelming to most.

The Groups section could certainly be re-vamped.

As far as how many groups I post to regularly, I would say not many, sometimes none.

I have to say the groups to do interest me much anymore.  They did when I first joined, but as you say, they are not moderated any more.
