Hi Jeff Dowler CRS it depends on if you want it to be a lead generator or more of a business card bio.  The luxury agents in our market that don't care about online lead gen you can tell by the way their site is designed.  It's more to impress the viewer than to capture data.

Jeff, I am also in the process of revamping my two sites both need to be changed ... and I am working on how I want it to look and navigate. One thing for sure is a video page as I am doing more video this year.

My mantra is to give them what they are looking for.

In the case of buyers, usually it's a home search option, plus local information.

Jeff,
Two crucial questions that may help:

# 1 How do people get to your site? Do they already know you or are they from out of the blue?

# 2 What do you want them to do? Give you an email address so you can follow up? What does the site have to do to get them to do what you want them to do?

An IDX that doesn't give buyers any problems!

I think that search times are also important. Newer style templates have more pictures & less verbiage.

I just changed the template on my Remax site & all I did was click a few buttons.

To force sign in or not?

Will let you know as I have recently launched a new website and working on the blog portion.  I would say keep it short, informative with local content (I KNOW you know how to do that) and add quality pictures. As for interactive, it would have to be something to get their attention.

Jeff,

I have read the suggestions and comments and they are all good ones.  Ultimately you know your market better than anyone else.  For me to really answer your specific questions, we would have to sit down together face to face, review the marketplace, stats, and a whole bunch of other questions...

Wishing you the very best outcome.  A

It depends on what you want to use your site for.  For me, I use it as 24x7 marketing of me and my listings.  I have on it a blog, about the company, featured listings, area info and my monthly newsletter.  I have a search page which is garbage, but my site isn't geared towards being yet another search portal.  I'm also developing area specific pages (similar to my market blogs) and pages on why someone should use my company to buy/sell real estate.  I also have investor clients, so I have a oneliner about that, which will eventually morph into a full page.

Jeff Dowler CRS stopped by here to learn from others!

I'd say ease of navigation and call-to-action, perhaps one on each page?

(Not an expert at this...)

I think an

  • about page
  • contact page
  • blog
  • disclosures

I think a webpage should be only about one topic.  Like a buyer website and a seperate seller website.
