it's based on subscribers to your blog..... followers....the most subscribed to is Nestor & Katerina Gasset (Katerina Gasset)....it has nothing to do with being the most popular kid in the class!!! it's all about quality of content and what the member has to offer to other members.... some people just don't get it!!!!

It shows the "ranking" based on the number of the followers previously known as subscribers for members nationwide or by state. 

Debbie Gartner wrote a very good post on this subject.   

I think it's based on followers, as some of these people don't have all that many posts to their names compared with others in the Rain.

This is based on the number of people that follow you.

yes I am aware of it, the real "top bloggers" list was given the ax fairly quickly in the summer of 14, and now it is more of a ranking of who can gain the most follows.

It is based on the number of followers you have. It really isn't that important because just because someone follows you they may not read you.

It is simply a list of people who meet predetermined criteria as determined by ActiveRain.  I rarely look at it.

Looks to me to be those that have the most subscribers.

I was not aware of this!  Looking at the top 100 for all AR, I find it a darn good list filled with many people I have come to follow and respect here.  That Bob Stewart is #1, is the only way it should be in my book.

For my state, I'm stoked I'm in the top 100, #88!  Great company to be in!

I had no idea such a page existed. Like many things in AR I wish they would find a fair way to filter for recent participation. The top person for Colorado has not been active since the summer of 2012.

Dang I didn't make the top 100....  Oh well what else is new....  

It's a ranking thing and I believe it does involve more than followers ... but other comments here suggest it is a matter of followers ...
