We use Oki color laser MFP for our business with good service for years. Always look at the cost of supplies. They will eat you alive if you are not careful with your choice.

I generally go to walmart, buy a $60 all in one printer scanner, the brands are all about the same HP, Lexmark, epson etc
They are all fairly disposable and will do good work for a year or so, but then so are the expensive ones too.

At home I use an HP 8610 printer all in one. It allows me to copy, scan, email and print and is fairly fast. The printer cartridges are not that expensive either.

I currently use a Brothers 9130 MFC. I just received a warning that 3 drums would need to be replaced soon. The price of a new printer, exactly the same printer, is less than the cost of 3 drums.

Kay Peterson I have a Brother MFC-9840CDW color and an older HP LaserJet 1100 B/W laser printers. They both work great. Although color and B/W toner cartridges are not inexpensive.

We have used HP printers for many years. Newer models are now available.

Have had very good experience with all my Brother Printer Products, currently use a MFC 7460 print, copy, scan, fax at home office, and a HL5370 at my desk at my office. Both going on 2-3yrs age and running great. For black & white printing, Brother laser is unmatched.

I find HP printers sort of "cranky" and ink expensive; laser ones are best for quality, but costlier.

I have had my HP Officejet Pro 8600 for a few years, and has been great.

I have an inexpensive Epson, but it goes through a lot of ink! Sounds from the comments that HP has to be high on the list of considerations!

I use a Brother laser printer. It uses the generic cartridges which saves on toner. My suggestion, how much does it costs to feed the habit especially if you do a lot of printing.

I use an HP. They change models so often, that it doesn't pay to get an expensive one.

HP Pro x476DW. I've had one since July, I print a lot and still on the introductory cartridge.

I have had an HP 2600N color laser which sits most of the time idle. I have had it for close to a decade.

I'm happy with my Brother MFC 7840W. Just ask yourself these questions first:
- Do I need to print in color?
- Do I need to print to both sides of a page at once (duplexing)?
- Will I be placing this printer where a wifi network is the only option?
- Laser or inkjet?
- How fast do I need it to print "Page Per Minute" (PPM)?

Epson WP-4530 all purpose machine, very reliable (knocking on wood), and the ink lasts a long time, and is separate cartridges which is more efficient. I buy them on Amazon, so cheaper there too!

Remember that whatever you choose be aware of how much the ink or laser cartridges cost. The cheaper the machine the more expensive the refills I have found.

I think the HP 8620 0r 8630 will give you the best ink mileage. I noticed when i buy a cheap printer, I just end up spending way too much on ink. I saw the 8620 on sale tody at Office Depot. $199.00 I think. i think they both scan legal size paper and do two sided printing.

Kay,
I use several models of HP laser printer for heavy duty monochrome printing. My past color laser experience has been dismal.
For color inkjet, after much research and the recommendation of a printer geek at the toner store I bought two HP OfficeJet Pro 8610e’s for $99 each. You have to look for them on sale. So far excellent and ink is much less than most inkjets.

I have an older HP 8500 Pro that I love and it does everything for me that I need. The only problem I have is the cost of the color cartridge refills which can add up.

I love my HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus. It has served me well. Kay, I hope you find a printer that suits you well.
