yes, at a previous brokerge I had a partnership agreement in exchange for internet leads to my team members.  After one of the partnerships disolved, the agent sold a $1.6M house and did not issue a referral fee.  At that point we were at different brokerages.  I was finally able to obtain a settlement through the brokerage that I had been working at when the partnership agreement was executed.  What made me crazy was that the individual had never sold a home over $400,000 prior to the opportunity I provided and then they chose to reward the blessing with theft.

Not AR, BUT a BIG SM playa at that time. The client complained to the lender and me that the agent was never available to show, and the buyer was RWA and on a tight timeframe. When we went to the agent with concerns, he accused the buyer of trying to cut him out to go to a builder. We rerouted buyer to a more responsive agent who closed him post-haste (on a resale). Lesson learned long ago: a great blogger does not automatically make for great representation.

I've only made one and it went very well.  

Good morning Kathleen. I have, a few times. The way I deal with the situation is as follow. I explain to my clients, that something like this may happen,that I want them to contact me immediately if it isn't a good fit, so that I can correct the mistake. When I do that, they are not uncomfortable contacting me.

 I have only made one referral in active rain. The folks were happy.

No it was not an AR referral.  But yes I did refer thru a network.  I was new at the time and thought, just like I would have with AR, that referring within would be ok to anyone.  Bad Bad.  Today I am very cautious with referrals.  Even a top producer is not always the right person.  I feel comfortable within the AR platform with those I am familiar with.  Someone I have seen consistently.  And yes Kathleen you would definitely be on that list.    Mark

Kathleen - Thank goodness all of my referrals have worked out well. Some have been AR referrals for sure, and I hope to be giving more out in 2016.

I think the agents I referred to are often not on the ball. They signed the referral aggrement the agent never really follow up since there were not multi-million dollars. Some might have closed and will not inform me about.... I often asked their broker to appoint one to have accountability. 

Another one was in SF, CA one PM 3 showings bought a $1.2M the agent will drag his feet until a letter from attorney sits on his brokers desk. The demand for commission payment took 2 more months to reply.   I should have taken the buyer myself but I do not like drive up and down the steep hill park crooked.

I hope AR are more on the ball.
